Engineer - Specialty Sciences III

Description: Our client is currently seeking a Engineer - Specialty Sciences III

As part of a diverse and hardworking team of engineers, you will support the development and qualification of new rocket engines and thrusters for various spaceflight systems. You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of being proficient in shock, vibration, environment measurement/prediction/analysis, and laboratory testing, as well as a solid foundation in basic structural mechanics and structural dynamics, in addition to your high-frequency skills.

This job will have the following responsibilities:
  • Activities will include prediction of rocket engine, thruster shock, vibration, and acoustic environments due to combustion, turbomachinery, or other sources. 
  • You will be responsible for shock, vibration, and acoustic measurement/data interpretation of ground and flight tests, as well as release of shock, vibration, and acoustic test levels. 
  • Additional responsibilities: development, supervision, and verification of component environmental tests, as well as working with company subject matter experts to develop and refine our dynamic environment and data reduction procedures. 
  • You will own mentorship of junior engineers and manage contractors.

Qualifications & Requirements:
  • BS degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering 5+ years of experience in aerospace, with at least 1 years in vibroacoustics 
  • Solid foundation of vibroacoustic and structural static/dynamic fundamentals, including PSD, OASPL, SRS, Miles Equation, fatigue damage, FFT, static/dynamic equilibrium, stress/strain/modulus, bending/shear/axial force development, etc. 
  • MATLAB proficiency including signal processing 
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion 
  • Ability to communicate technical information effectively 
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum 
  • (OT Eligible)  
  • Mandatory Skills 
  • Experience with MATLAB to process time history data into PSDs. 
  • Experience with vibration and shock testing on aerospace components. 
  • Experience deriving component test environments from PSDs and developing adjustments to those environments to avoid over-test and under-test.
