Our location in Santa Clara, CA currently has an opportunity for a Compliance Analyst.  


Primary Job Function:

The Office of Ethics and Compliance (“OEC”) Compliance Analyst provides analysis and support to Abbott’s United States OEC Department for the Structural Heart and Vascular business units in all functional areas within the Medical Device Divisional Compliance Program. The analyst is responsible for facilitating compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and policies by identifying potential areas of risk and supporting the elements of Abbott’s compliance program within the business units. 

Core Job Responsibilities:

The Analyst performs the following with significant supervision and oversight from OEC leadership (e.g. supervisor/manager/director). 

  • Independently analyze various business transactions and provide guidance, support and appropriate advice regarding any compliance matters associated with Abbott policies and industry standards.
  • Develop knowledge of Abbott’s business areas supported to proactively identify, assess and mitigate potential areas of risk and provide a recommended course of action to management.
  • Assist OEC leadership to develop divisional monitoring plan and perform divisional monitoring activities to identify whether activities comply with policies and procedures.
  • Develop and deliver training programs on OEC and divisional policies and procedures and track completion accordingly.
  • Effectively use data analysis tools and problem-solving techniques using close attention to detail to identify and prioritize assessment of potential risk.
  • Develop and maintain transactional compliance metrics and monitor compliance trends/results and advise on remediation plans and corrective actions.
  • Support and communicate with various levels of divisional business functions to provide basic and routine OEC and divisional policy interpretation and requirements, and assists with compliance risk assessment, trend analysis and best practice recommendations.
  • Assist in facilitating the routing for approval of various business requests, necessary forms and new and/or updated divisional procedures.
  • Assist the OEC Director/ECO on compliance audits; assists in the fulfillment of auditor’s requests by gathering information and documentation.

Position Accountability/Scope:

  • Accountable to the OEC Manager and OEC Director.
  • Operates independently with well-defined expectations, checking in frequently with direct OEC leadership (Supervisor/Manager/Director).
  • Demonstrates strong collaboration and team orientation.


Education & Experience:

  • BS/BA required.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience, with exposure to business functions such as compliance, legal, regulatory affairs, governmental affairs, and finance.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite including but not limited to Excel file management, PowerPoint presentations. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Highly skilled at organizing and prioritizing.
  • Must have strong written and verbal skills and an ability to effectively communicate with colleagues at all levels.
  • Experience working in medical device or life sciences industry, a strong plus.
