Local Unit & Position Description

DNV – Energy Systems North America is seeking a versatile Software Developer to join our Markets and Risk Analytics and Digitalization team.

This position is based anywhere in the United States (Excluding Colorado)

What You'll Do 

In this role you will lead develop software tools that enable energy companies to better understand their customers, energy loads and Carbon impacts. Through your work companies and regulators will be able to make smarter decisions on investments, policies and approaches to improving the safety and Carbon profile energy consumed.

This Software Developer will support of one of DNV's Veracity platform applications.  This unique position will be responsible for maintaining, administrating and building new functionality on a data analytics platform developed specifically to ingest, store, distribute, and analyze energy utility data from disparate sources.   

The desired candidate must have strong problem-solving skills and demonstratable programming skills in structured and open-source tools. 

Other responsibilities include troubleshooting performance bottlenecks, implementing scalable, tunable SaaS based solutions, maintenance and support. This individual will work with internal and external IT personnel to deliver on premise and cloud-based solutions while conforming to operational procedures and requirements.

Position Qualifications

What is Required

  • Programming Languages: C#, .Net, Java, Python, SQL, Javascript, HTML
  • 9+ years professional software development experience
  • 2+ years experience in N-Tier database application development
  • Logical and Physical database design, performance, scalability and tuning reviews/assessments, and query monitoring
  • Extending company's data with third party sources of information when needed
  • Processing, cleansing, and verifying the integrity of data used for analysis
  • Practical experience with ETL processes, data processing, database programming (SQL)
  • Able to understand various data structures and common methods in data transformation
  • Experience on T-SQL coding, stored procedures, views, indexes and constraints.
  • Development of ETL processes with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), and other ETL tools.
  • Spark/Databricks ETL processing
  • Experience developing back end processes using compiled languages (C#, Java)
  • High level of problem determination and resolution skills, and demonstrate ability to trouble shoot technical issues.
  • Assisting, troubleshooting and guiding developers with any issues.
  • Strong team player is critical to the success of this role.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills
  • We conduct pre-employment drug and background screening

Knowledge in the following areas will be considered a plus:

  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent
  • SQL Server administration on SQL 2008/2012/2016.
  • .Net development experience.
  • Knowledge of scripting language, PowerShell, Shell, etc.
