IT Manager, Data Quality Platform

Basic Function

The IT Master Data & Data Quality team is responsible for designing, building, and managing digital tools and products which load, profile, manage, and govern the key master data elements at LyondellBasell including Customer, Material, Vendor, Equipment, and Products.


The IT Manager Data Quality Platform will play a key role in leading the technical platform team, agile delivery pod, and technical foundation underpinning the major digital solutions at LYB that support Data Quality. These technical solutions include the Data Quality Digital Platform in Azure, SAP Master Data Governance application, Data Profiling Tools, API master data integrations, Robotic Process Automation, and Data Quality Digital Scorecards implemented using Power BI.



Roles & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for leading an Agile technical team that successfully delivers Master Data projects and product backlog items on a regular sprint cadence for LYB business functions and project teams
  • Delivers & advises on established technology roadmaps for Master Data and Data Quality areas.
  • Is an active practitioner and coach of LYB Advancing90 and Path to Excellence methodologies which are based on agile and lean principles
  • Coaches and mentors technical team members in SAP MDG, SAP Master Data Tables, and APIs
  • Prepares technical delivery cost & timeline estimates; ensures team alignment to the overall IT strategy
  • Manages stakeholders in business and IT, including senior leaders
  • Collaborates with product team leaders and business process owners for value creation through technology investment
  • Collaborates with resource managers to secure resources required for successful delivery
  • Collaborates cross-functionally and builds strong, productive relationships with all internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensures that the Master Data and Data Quality product release cycle delivers benefits outlined in the business case and meets reasonable expectations of end users
  • Facilitates organizational change management; manages risk and issue resolution
  • Reports into project steering committee or equivalent body; ensures regular status reporting
  • Contributes to continuous improvement of LYB project delivery by applying lessons learned and external leading best practices for master data management and data quality
  • Manages outsource partners to develop digital solutions & perform DevOps support tasks
  • Periodically assists in the resolution of technical problems by managing escalations of critical issues.
  • Interact with internal IT groups, data engineering and other subject matter experts as key stakeholders in the planning and design of new applications and services
  • Creatively designs technical solutions to support master data, data quality, and digital workflow processes utilizing automation technologies that increase business team productivity and reduces expenses.


Min. Qualifications

  • 4-year degree (or higher) in Computer Science, MIS or related field, required
  • A minimum of 8 years in an SAP techno-functional role, managing medium to large global teams.
  • A minimum of 10 years of IT and business/industry related experience with large, global organizations
  • Experienced leader of DevOps and Agile teams; Certified Scrum Master, a plus
  • Experience in master data management, data quality, data profiling, and/or data & analytics
  • SAP MDG Technical experience, or equivalent experience with master data in SAP modules
  • Demonstrated team-building skills; ability to work in a matrix organization
  • Strong presentation and communication skills; negotiation skills to influence stakeholders
  • Experience in managing multi-cultural teams and work across multiple onsite and offshore locations
  • Experience in establishing strong business case for IT projects including cost benefit analysis, and familiarity with financial metrics; NPV, IRR, payback, preferred
  • Experience in a master data domain for one or more of the following: Customer, Vendor, Finance, Material, Equipment
  • Excellent product and project management skills with demonstrated track record
  • Experience with the Azure Cloud Platform desired

  • Experience leading Issue resolution and risk mitigation with a strong commitment to follow standards
