Claims Adjuster - Workers Compensation (Hourly)

Examines insurance policies and other records to determine insurance coverage.
Interviews, telephones, and/or corresponds with claimant and witnesses regarding claim.
Consults police and hospital records, and inspects property damage to determine extent of company's liability and varying methods of investigation according to type of insurance.
Estimates cost of repair, replacement, or compensation.
Prepares report of findings and negotiates settlement with claimant.
Recommends litigation by legal department when settlement cannot be negotiated.
Attends litigation hearings.
Revises case reserves in assigned claims files to cover probable costs.
Assists in preparing loss experience report to help determine profitability and calculates adequate future rates.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES

Performs other duties as assigned.
Supports the organization's quality program(s).
Travels as required.
Assignment Length:

40 Hours per week (8am – 5pm) – could fluctuate based on need

No overtime unless approved by the State in advance
No Paid Time Off (PTO)/Holiday/Sick compensation
90 Day assignment, evaluated at 90 days for assignment extension/conclusion


Activity sheet - required at start of assignment for daily activities

Activity sheet is to record start and stop of training, workday, lunch, and breaks.
Activity sheet to be submitted to Dana Winkler at the end of the workday, every Friday.
Activity sheet must be approved by Dana prior to submitting time through WAND.

Timesheet – to be submitted every Friday with the activity sheet

Temp Agency to provide the weekly timesheet.

Training – schedule will be provided at start of assignment; times will vary and may not be 8 hours per day/5 days per week.

Use activity sheet to track start and finish times for training as you will be paid for time spent logged into the State's system and time recorded.


Equipment – Temp Examiner to provide their own computer equipment and must be able to access Skype (is this what the State uses for virtual training?)
