Job Details

The Manager, Human Resources will lead and direct the routine functions of the Human Resources and Safety (HR/Safety) Department. The positioned is accountable to hire, develop, interview and retain staff, administer pay, benefits, and leave, oversee the safety and risk management functions of the organization, and develop and enforce company policies, procedures, and practices. Perform responsibilities in the construction, fleet, and hospitality functions of the organization.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Recruit, interview, hire, and appoint new staff in the department.
  • Oversees the daily workflow of the department to include the activities of the Safety Manager and Human Resources / Safety Coordinator positions.
  • Routinely engage the Risk Management Consultant to meet the goals and objectives of the department and the organization.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Handle discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
  • Partner with the Executive Management team to understand and execute the organization’s human resource and talent strategy particularly as it relates to current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning.
  • Enhance the organization’s human resources by planning, implementing, and evaluating employee relations and human resources policies, procedures, programs, and practices.
  • Administer benefits programs such as medical, vision, and dental insurance, vacation, sick leave, leave of absence, and employee assistance.
  • Oversee the Safety program for the organization. Administer and execute appropriate disciplinary notices and retrain for non-compliance.
  • Manage the compliance and recognition program for the safety function.
  • Retain historical human resource records by designing a filing and retrieval system and keeping past and current records.
  • Represent the organization at personnel-related hearings and investigations to include rendering oversight for all OSHA-related activities and hearings.
  • Manage a pay plan by conducting periodic pay surveys; schedule and conduct job evaluations; monitor and schedule individual pay actions; and recommend, plan, and implement pay structure revisions.
  • Drive results by thinking and acting quickly to ensure the long-term best interest of company objectives. Participate in the strategic planning, development, and implementation of a set of goals and objectives for the company.
  • Ensure the planning, monitoring, and appraisal of employee work results by training managers to coach and discipline employees; schedule management conferences with employees; listen to and resolve employee grievances; and counsel employees and supervisors.
  • Provide support and guidance to payroll, management, and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise; may be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations.
  • Oversee the Interactive Accommodation Process.
  • Manage the talent acquisition process, which includes recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of qualified job applicants, particularly for managerial, exempt, and professional roles; collaborate with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Analyzes trend in compensation and benefits; research and propose competitive base and incentive pay programs to ensure the organization attracts and retains top talent.
  • Create development programs and initiatives that provide internal development opportunities for employees.
  • Oversee employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; review policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Cultivate professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
