EHS Team Lead

GHD has an opportunity for a Team Leader to join our EHS Compliance Team who can be based from any of our Midwest offices. We are seeking self-motivated and active professionals with excellent technical skills, local regulatory knowledge, values building credible relationships with clients and the community. You'll need to be flexible in your approach to challenges, and have a strong ability to think laterally in delivering technical solutions

Specific responsibilities will include:

Technical Skills:

  • Proven experience in managing and delivering multi-media compliance projects and deep understanding of industry standards
  • We are seeking leaders with experience in developing efficient technical and regulatory strategies and solutions that address our clients' specific challenges and needs.
  • If you have a background in air compliance and permitting requirements, this could be a career enhancing move.
  • Your experience of providing technical recommendations for programs and portfolios as well as writing and crafting proposals for projects.
  • You'll need to be flexible in your approach to challenges and have a strong ability to think laterally in delivering technical solutions.

Management and Business Skills

  • Collaborate with Region Environment Market Leader and Business Group Leader to grow the EHS business in the Region
  • Develop and execute business strategies and initiatives to expand EHS Compliance services to new clients
  • Identify and develop strategies to capture new business with major clients and includes business development, strategic initiatives, and sales development.
  • Maintain a high profile externally and through membership/attendance in industry organizations, continually increasing contact base
  • Cross-Collaboration across GHD to promote seamless client delivery
  • Lead proposal development and contract negotiation to win targeted pursuits.
  • Manage technical projects: maintaining client satisfaction while ensuring projects are delivered safely and within scope, schedule, and budget 
  • Achieve goals identified for business development by working in coordination with Operations to successfully develop and win work
  • Contracts regarding the negotiation of terms and conditions.
  • Formulate and present proactive, strategic approaches to the proposal development process, which leverage the company's capabilities and value proposition.
  • Build, grow and maintain an active list of large and/or strategic new prospects that will ensure the continuous growth of clients.
  • Establish and develop strategic long-term relationships with current clients, new clients and prospective teaming partners.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills with experience working effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
  • Demonstrated exceptional communication, presentation, follow-up, negotiation, and closing skills.
  • Solid organizational skills with the proven ability to manage multiple priorities at a time.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently.
  • Highly effective verbal and written communication plus senior level presentation and negotiation skills.

For success in this position, you will possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • B.S. degree in Safety, Engineering, Environmental/Earth Sciences or a related field of study required, MS in a science-related field or MBA is preferred.
  • 10 years of progressive health and safety experience preferably in the environmental field, construction, hazardous remediation and/or consulting experience required 
  • Experience in the implementation of a behavior based safety (BBS) program required
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations related to environmental and construction
  • Ability to work well with others and foster strong working relationships 
  • Extensive knowledge of Root Cause Analysis, incident investigation and data analysis required
  • Experience developing and delivering training programs such as HAZWOPER, Hazard Communications, Lockout/Tagout, Hazardous Materials Shipping and Confined Space Entry is preferred
  • Ability to travel for short durations help support office and field operations 
  • Ability to provide leadership in establishing and sustaining a safe work place by effective interaction with internal and external clients
