Sr. Research Associate - Gene Therapy

The Company

Dyno Therapeutics is reshaping the gene therapy landscape through AI-powered vectors. Through the application of our transformative technologies and strategic partnerships with leaders in gene therapy, we believe a future with life changing gene therapies for millions of people is within reach.

Our team includes world-class molecular and synthetic biologists, protein engineers and gene therapy scientists working alongside software engineers, data scientists, and machine learning experts. Dyno was named Startup of the Year in 2020 by Xconomy!

The Role

Senior Research Associate - Gene Therapy. The Gene Therapy Group at Dyno applies technologies created by the Dyno platform to discover novel AAV capsids with the potential to improve gene therapies. An essential component of the discovery process is capsid validation, wherein AAV capsids identified in high-throughput screening workflows are further characterized using targeted, lower-throughput assays. The Gene Therapy Group is hiring a Senior Research Associate to support ongoing validation efforts and build upon validation processes. These efforts will be applied to the output of all of Dyno's organ focus areas - including eye, muscle, liver, and CNS. In this role, you will design and execute capsid characterization experiments as well as collaborate with functional areas across the platform, including library design, computational biology, vector cloning, vector production, tissue processing, and single-cell RNA-seq. You will have opportunities to contribute to a diverse set of innovative scientific and cultural projects.

  • Support in designing, managing, and executing workflows:
    • Curating and cloning capsid and vector sequences
    • AAV production
    • Tissue processing and NGS based gene expression analyses
  • Optimize existing methods and implement new methods based on technical advances in the field
  • Collect, analyze, and present data
  • Collaborate with colleagues across teams
  • Assist in lab organization and sample tracking
  • Follow lab protocols and safety regulations

Who you are

  • Quick and enthusiastic to learn
  • A respectful and supportive colleague
  • Good communicator
  • Thoughtful and detail-oriented
  • Excited to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment

Basic qualifications

  • BS/MS or MS in biology, biochemistry, biomedical engineering, or related fields
  • 3+ years of hands-on wet-lab experience
  • Expertise and documented track record in at least one of the following areas:
    • Molecular cloning
    • Large scale viral vector production and purification
    • Tissue processing and quantification of gene expression
    • Next-generation sequencing
  • Ability to follow advanced protocols and procedures
  • Ability to document and maintain an organized account of lab work and results
  • Skilled in Excel/Prism, Word, PowerPoint, and other relevant software

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience working with high-throughput assays, e.g., automated sample processing, multi-channel pipetting, molecular barcoding
  • Experience in recombinant AAV production and purification
  • Experience in sequence design and analysis software, e.g., BLAST, Benchling, etc.
  • NGS library preparation and sequencing on Illumina platforms
