The Medical Assistant works under the supervision of the Director of Nursing and is responsible for monitoring the physical health of persons served and communicating to other health care practitioners regarding client's health status.

This is an hourly position with hours and schedule established to complete the required duties. This position is not exempt from wage and hour regulations as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor and is therefore granted protections under the Wage and Hour Division of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Must be willing to travel to other sites, as needed.


  • MA license
  • CDCA
  • Degree or certificate in medical assisting from an accredited college or university
  • Experience providing care in a psychiatric or substance use treatment setting

1. Perform duties in accordance with applicable professional ethics and standards and established A Renewed Mind policies.
2. Comply with all state and federal laws regarding protected health information.
3. Maintain complete and current medical records regarding all persons served.
4. In collaboration with the team, ensure a comprehensive health history is obtained and appropriate referrals are made, as needed, for further assessment and treatment.
5. Provide education to persons served, family members of persons served and other staff regarding medication, symptom management, wellness and health, as instructed by medical staff.
6. Provide monitoring of persons served's mental illness or substance use and physical symptoms; communicate any changes to the treatment team.
7. Provide urinalysis and case management, or CPST services, to persons served to monitor symptoms, carry out prescriber orders and support coordination of care.
8. Achieve productivity goals as assigned.

1. Ability to learn and utilize the agency's Electronic Health Record database and other electronic tools effectively and efficiently within 90 days of hire.
2. Demonstrate a current knowledge of medical practices.

4. Demonstrate knowledge of community resources and partnerships available for persons served.
5. Demonstrate the ability to effectively function as an A Renewed Mind team member.
6. Demonstrate the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks concurrently.
7. Must possess and demonstrate effective organizational skills.
8. Demonstrate the ability to customarily and regularly exercise discretion and good professional judgment.

  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to perform job responsibilities in facilities with multiple levels and without elevator or mechanical transportation.
