SUMMARY

Stifel Bank is looking for a top caliber Analyst, depending on prior experience, to join its Fund Banking team. The Fund Banking group provides commercial banking services to private investment funds directly. This includes funds investing across all alternative asset classes including private equity, venture capital, private credit, real estate, etc. Services include capital call / subscription lines of credit, deposit accounts, and other banking services.

This position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on exposure to both commercial banking and alternative investment funds with a small tight-knit team. The Analyst will be an integral part of portfolio management, underwriting, and administration of the group with close interaction with other members of the Fund Banking team. Situationally, the position is also expected to perform certain tasks for the Venture Banking team, which works closely with Fund Banking. This position can be based in a Stifel office in Charlotte, Raleigh/Durham, St. Louis, or New York.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Portfolio Management - Gather, organize, analyze, and monitor borrower data to determine performance and produce various reports for management
  • Underwriting - Assist in the analysis of prospective credit decisions, which will include an understanding of a Borrower's past performance, assets, or investors
  • Client Service - Assist with various client requests related to their loans or deposit accounts while liaising with other members of the organization as needed. This will include frequent processing of loan advance requests.
  • Administrative Tasks - Perform ad-hoc requests and reports for members of the Fund Banking or Venture Banking teams

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in finance, accounting or another business related field required.
  • 1-3 years' of full-time work experience, preferably in commercial banking, accounting, investment banking, or alternative investment management, experience required.
  • Understanding of how private investment funds are structured preferred.
  • Strong MS Word and Excel skills with preferred ability to use many different functions (pivot tables, macros, vlookup/ indexmatch, etc).
  • Strong skills and experience in analyzing investments funds and their underlying objectives.
  • Knowledge of key financial principles.
  • Ability to work on a small entrepreneurial team and passion for improving processes and solving problems without highly structured guidance
  • Strong ability to produce high quality work products independently and as part of a collegial team.
  • Comfort in working directly with senior executives and investment Firms.
  • Ability to work in an entrepreneurial culture with the desire to figure out how to solve problems and execute.
