OVERVIEW:
The Don Watson Academy is looking for a school caseworker / clinician who can truly make a difference in the lives of the children we serve. This individual would provide individual and group counseling, facilitate assessments, provide case management and work closely with families and collaterals in a manner that assist students in their ability to be successful in a special education setting.

DON WATSON ACADEMY:
The Don Watson Academy is a state-approved special education day school that serves students 8-18 years of age with social emotional disabilities. The student enrollment averages between 20 - 25 students from our surrounding communities.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Develop relationships with students and support their social, emotional and behavioral needs.
  • Counsel and guide students in identified areas of challenge, provide immediate short-term interventions, help students plan and reach short and long term goals within their learning environment.
  • Provide individual and group therapy and case management for specified students.
  • Maintain clinical notes and records that are consistent with Perkins-RFK and DESE standards.
  • Consult and collaborate with parents, external service providers and the student's educational team to ensure the organization and delivery of solution focused strategies that address and support the needs of each student.
  • Collaborate with students and families to refer appropriate community agencies that assist in managing crisis outside the scope of the school counseling program.
  • Document quarterly reports such as IEP and Progress Notes.
  • Provide training and professional development opportunities for school staff related to clinical issues, student diagnosis, etc.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Masters level education (MSW)
  • LICSW or LCSW preferred
  • Familiarity with developmental theory.
  • Approved Special Education School experience preferred.

HOURS:

Monday - Friday 8am - 4:00pm
