The Role

Software Engineer. The software engineering team is at the heart of Dyno's platform, and your work as a part of this team can have a major impact on the future of gene therapy. Our team's responsibilities include automating computational and machine learning workflows, optimizing cutting edge cloud infrastructure and compute clusters, scaling databases and data processing algorithms, and controlling laboratory equipment and scientific processes. Our team is looking for candidates with a diverse set of skills and experience, and a passion for working autonomously and learning things on the fly.

How You Will Contribute

As a Software Engineer, you will take a leading role in architecting and developing the core software services that allow Dyno to reshape the gene therapy landscape. You will collaborate closely with data scientists and computational biologists to streamline the process of running complex scientific workflows on our data effectively. You will bring a perspective of cloud native software solutions and scalable microservice architectures.

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to our tech stack direction for large, data driven, machine learning workflows.
  • Build deployment architectures which are stable, reliable and performant.
  • Optimize tracking, storage and serving of biological data.
  • Develop and maintain software best practices, including continuous integration, agile and test driven design.
  • Manage and improve our Kubernetes cluster.
  • Interface with biologists and data scientists to understand opportunities to empower them with software.

Basic qualifications

  • BS, MS, or Ph.D. in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • Expertise in Python and SQL.
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with cloud-based platforms (GCP or AWS).
  • Experience with cloud security concepts.
  • Two years of software engineering experience in industry.
  • Experience designing or maintaining complex software platforms.
  • Experience deploying production systems in the cloud.

Preferred qualifications

  • Fluency with software life-cycle best practices and devops. 
  • 3+ years of industry experience in software development, including database design, distributed computing and data pipelines.
  • Certifications with Cloud platforms (GCP or AWS).
  • Experience with workflow orchestration systems such as Apache Airflow
  • Work experience at a leading software company or early responsibility in software-driven startups.
