Consumer Post Closing Specialist

Under occasional supervision, the Consumer Post Closing Specialist ensures accuracy and completeness of consumer loan files in accordance with Federal Regulations and Company Policies and Procedures.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Audits new & reviews decline, withdrawn and credit card loan files to ensure compliance with lending regulations, and with company policies and procedures.
  • Upon completion of audit, determines if information deficient, and then follows up with internal departments such as Loan Doc Prep, the original Lender or underwriter, along with third party agencies such as Title Companies and Auto Dealers to collect necessary data to finalize the loan package.
  • Inputs discovered errors into Mastery Plan tracking system for purposes of training, coaching up to disciplinary action.
  • Records, files, and verifies collateral documents are in place and perfected.
  • Processes fees and invoices according to procedures.
  • Upon completion of loan package, scans and catalogs into Onbase.
  • Reviews Paid Loan Report, prepares letters and releases filings for dissemination to the assigned internal personnel by market for communication to the borrower.
  • Processes Change-in-Terms requests, subordination requests, credit disputes, pay-off quotes and loan pay offs.
  • Reviews and approves title search invoices; balance monthly Simplifile report against recorded mortgages recordings and releases.
  • Reviews and maintains monthly HTLF exception reports; perform any necessary follow up actions.
  • Maintains physical filings in collateral vault according to record retention timelines.
  • Completes annual E-Learning Plan and Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) training as assigned and keeps up-to-date knowledge of BSA as it relates to the job function.

  • GED required
  • 3-5 years experience in Consumer Loan Post Closing or relevant experience required
  • Advance knowledge of consumer loan regulations including but not limited to TILA/RESPA, TRID, Flood
  • Stays abreast of industry changes that affect the performance of Consumer Post Closing job functions; through attendance of annual off-site or online training and attendance of monthly meetings led by Post Closing Supervisor
  • Knowledge of imaging scanners and any document imaging software
  • Ability to recognize various loan document types and independently determine necessary action to complete missing items
  • Ability to communicate professionally with departments of all levels in the organization
  • Advance skills using Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook
