Position Summary:

The Manager, Market Research, is a key member of the Membership Operations team and is responsible for providing the best possible prospect and member market research to improve and maintain the teams' new member sales, high retention and dues increases.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  1. TAM: Responsible for managing the Total Available Market (TAM) of US manufacturing industry managing free, subscription, and third-party firms outsourced to support primary and secondary research. Including, but not limited to Maintaining real-time analysis of members vs. prospects in key segments including by size, geographic, Industry and sector.
    • Size: Fortune 100, 500, enterprise small and medium manufacturers
    • Geographic: analysis by region, state and congressional district
    • Industry: Regularly refining and updating the key industries and the sectors included in each industry.
    • Demographics: Ownership, FDI, etc.
  2. Network Analysis: Lead the development of how the total addressable market can be segmented and prioritized to engage members and recruit prospects.
    • Tracking priorities and issues, growth/decline industries and geographic distribution to develop lists of members for targeted outreach and engagement based on company size and demographics. 
    • Identify board matches, business connections, association connections, supplier awards and customer & supplier list and community engagement of both the company and individual contacts.
  1. Deep Dive Research: Perform through and complete analysis to support both immediate needs and package findings for broader distribution and application.
    • Industry Overviews: Provide regular updates on the drivers of industry growth, decline, priorities and key stakeholders.
    • Backgrounder development and support: Provide research support, analysis and feedback on members and prospects, as requested.
    • Briefings on key issues: share key findings for custom projects to larger audience for re-use and educational purposes.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • No direct reports

Qualifications:

  • College degree (preferably in marketing, business, finance); four to five years experience in research and database management;
  • Working knowledge of database structure and familiarity with prospect sales and lead generation systems; strong interpersonal,
  • Collaborative and organizational skills plus good judgment are required.;
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal, with strong listening ability;
  • Strong project management and organizational skills;
  • Strong interpersonal relations;
  • Attention to detail and high degree of accuracy;
  • Strong Salesforce experience preferred;
  • Computer proficiency with Windows, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Power Point), and the Internet; Ceridian or similar HRIS experience a plus;
  • Strong team player;
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, quality and goal driven work environment.
