Operator I

Required Schedule: 2:30pm to 11:00pm (Monday thru Friday)

Responsible for performing production and shipping related duties to ensure on-time production and shipment of product while adhering to high standards of quality, safety and customer service.

Operator Responsibilities:

  • Loading and unloading trucks and moving FG/RM throughout facilities, including the use of fork trucks.
  • Printing labels  and MSDS sheets from the WERCS system
  • Assist in tracking material inventory and performing inventory counts, make inventory transfers in JDE
  • Store and retrieve raw materials and supplies in the warehouse.
  • Clean up spills of non-hazardous items.
  • Prepare drums/bins, etc. for shipment.
  • Assist in investigating customer complaints.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and safe facility through performance of general housekeeping duties.

Will also include duties from either shipping or production as detailed below:

Shipping:

  • Loading and unloading tankers and rail cars.
  • Receive POs in JDE
  • Enter cycle counts into the system
  • Inspect drums, bins, etc. for shipment.
  • Print factory orders, pick lists, and BOLs.
  • Ship items in JDE
  • Communicate late shipments to OTC group.
  • Make UPS and FedEx shipments
  • Call trucks for shipment

Production:

  • Load containerized and bulk raw materials to production vessels
  • Enter/retrieve process data, and set up new items and formulas in process control computer
  • Operate in process test equipment
  • Operate production equipment.
  • Complete work orders in JDE
  • Enter cycle counts
  • Draw off product into drums , pails and totes.

Education, Experience, Training & Skills:

  • A high school diploma and six (6) months of related chemical manufacturing experience required.  1-2 years of manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.  Ability to read, analyze and interpret batch sheets, SOPs, work instructions, etc.
  • Demonstrate basic mathematical skills. Precise and accurate in dealing with figures and details. 
  • Organized and able to organize work load into manageable tasks.. Flexibility to respond to unanticipated situations.  Able to manage multiple demands and establish priorities.  Able to deal with pressure situations.  Ability to solve practical problems.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. 
  • Must have basic working knowledge of: Internet software, e-mail, and ability to learn new software programs. Experience with JD Edwards software preferred.

Associate will work in a manufacturing environment and may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals.  The associate is exposed to moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock and trip and slip hazards.  The noise level in the manufacturing environment is loud.

The associate will be required to perform these functions:

    • May be required to lift up to 50 pounds
    • May be required to stand for long periods and walk great distances daily
    • Routinely required to use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms.
    • May be required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and talk or hear
    • May be required to work in small spaces and high locations
