Head Of Finance


We are currently seeking an experienced Head of Finance to join a well-established, family-run SME based in Edinburgh, Scotland. Your role will be to manage the Finance function with responsibility for timely control, reporting and profit maximisation. This includes analysing figures and implementing prudent recommendations to achieve profitable growth, whilst working alongside our Sales and Business Development teams to identify opportunities.

Reporting to the Managing Director you will act as a true business partner to the Head of Sales, Head of Operations and the rest of the Senior Leadership Team.

You will also be accountable for managing company financial and business activity reports whilst meeting key financial ratio targets. The role is also responsible for IT systems, overseeing future business process upgrades and creating process efficiencies.

Key duties and responsibilities...
Support the entire financial operations of the business, in the creation and delivery of objectives, forecasting and reporting Work closely with the Managing Director and Leadership Team to provide analysis, (MI) reports and financial insights for pricing decisions and contracts. Collaborate with our part time Finance Director and Leadership Team to develop and deliver timely operating forecasts and reports, keeping each department in line with budgetary requirements. Take overall responsibility for business systems and IT needs and oversee necessary future business system upgrades Assist with the production of weekly reports and responsible for producing monthly management accounts pack, cashflow, debtor list, stock reports, together with the compilation of accrual, pre-payment and fixed asset accounts, all within agreed timescales and procedures. Liaise with external accountants for preparation of Financial Statements and Company Tax Returns, both interim and year end, acting as main point of contact. Oversee the company's banking, payroll and external funding process identifying opportunities to optimise and create process efficiencies. Carry out any necessary internal audit reviews, monitoring and reporting on the financial effectiveness of current systems and controls, recommending appropriate change and ensuring continuity plans are in place. Lead, manage and coach the members of the Finance team, ensure client focused service and offer relevant insight and analysis to improve decision making within the team. Build and maintain robust relationships with banks, key stakeholders and external partners and act as an authority for complex queries. Maintenance and implementation, where relevant, of all IT and office systems acting as first point of contact for IT queries from the wider team.
The ideal candidate will have the following skills, attributes and qualifications....
ACCA, CIMA or ACA qualified Demonstrates a high degree of confidentiality, professionalism, honesty and integrity Strong leader with management experience and ability to inspire and motivate Experience of working with Sage would be advantageous along with advanced Excel skills Hands on with strong execution capability and a track record of driving commercial and financial performance Strong influencing and communication skills and a willingness to tackle difficult conversations when required Ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure Collaborates with other areas of the business for the good of the client Deliver timely and outstanding client satisfaction
