Group Financial Accountant

Group Assistant Financial Controller - NewtownabbeyReporting to the Group Financial Controller.Salary up to £45,000 dependent on experience.Clemence Rogers are working in partnership with our client, an established Transport and Logistics business, in the recruitment of an experienced Assistant Financial Controller to join a team of finance professionals.

The Group Central Finance department has undergone a reorganisation resulting in this new role which centres on preparation of accounts for the Group’s property companies, controlling asset funding and treasury management for the group and assisting with the Head Office service centre function as required.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic, forward-thinking, progressive and profitable, market-leading large group of companies with a diverse range of interests in the transport and logistics sectors.Key Responsibilities:Business Partner – Property companies:• Preparation of monthly Management Accounts (incorporating Profit and Loss Account, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow statement) for group property companies, including balance sheet reconciliations, variance analyses and monthly forecasting;
• Preparation of quarterly VAT returns ensuring appropriate reconciliations are maintained;
• Providing information for the Property Board of Directors as required;
• Preparation of annual budgets for incorporation into the group budget;
• Liaison with external auditors for successful, efficient and timely completion of audits;
• Maintenance of the property Register.

Treasury management:• Preparing and monitoring financing requirements for all companies within the group;
• Liaising with asset finance funders and maintaining asset finance trackers;
• Consolidation of weekly cash and working capital group forecasts;
• Analysis at Group level and appropriate reporting thereon.

Other:• Assist with accounting for the central service centre accounts;
• Preparation of year-end Accounts/Audit Packs;
• Assist the Group Financial Controller with management of Group Audit process;
• Assist with group budgeting and audits;
• Assist with preparation of group and subsidiary statutory accounts;
• Ad hoc project analysis, and maintenance of relevant documentation, where required.

Ideal Candidate for the Group Financial Accountant:• Educated to degree level / Recognised professional accountancy qualification;
• Excellent understanding of accounting processes and the need for appropriate controls;
• Strong attention to detail;
• Proven ability to deliver high quality work within strict time frames;
• Proven ability to prepare monthly management accounts;
• Knowledge of accounting systems – preferably experience of Sage;
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills;
• Flexible in adapting to varied workloads;
• Professional conduct & attitude;
• Ability to work on own initiative;
• Willingness to take on new tasks and challenges;
• Knowledge of IFRS and statutory reporting;
• Excellent planning and organisational skills.
