Inbound Product Manager

What You’ll Do:

  • Work closely with engineering
  • Product Coordination
    • Epic decomposition into prioritized user stories
    • Trim requirements that have a poor return on investment of development resources.
    • Support outbound product managers, business analysts, designers, and technical leads with creating clear and actionable requirements for stories.
    • Ensure stories are complete, helping write and pull in requirements from the team as necessary.
    • Collaborate to help engineers understand the intent of stories.
    • Ensure engineering release plans are well documented, understood, executed; and meet product expectations.
  • Software Delivery
    • Coordinate and lead meeting and rituals as you see fit, such as:
      • Standups
      • Refinements
      • Retrospectives
      • Story Reviews
    • Maintain and develop SLAs and KPIs to increase visibility of team’s performance and provide insightful suggestions.
    • Ensure everyone on the team follows correct procedures.
    • Manage delivery dependencies to ensure smooth delivery across teams.
    • Manage expectations and early raise warnings around scope, timeline, or quality changes.
    • Ensure consistent bookkeeping and documentation of development work.
    • Promote agile prioritization with planning as circumstances change.
    • Own all communication related to delivery timeline and milestones.
    • Produce schedules for, and reporting the status of, development cycles.
    • Manage development support requests and bug reports, and ensure first response and resolution within SLA turnaround time.

  • Have a excellent understanding of how to administer and work with issue tracking systems, like Jira
  • Influence outcomes by working with other people, especially those you don’t manage
  • Understand SaaS business models
  • Know how web applications work and are built
  • Understand how to work with databases and write simple SQL queries
  • Understand user usage analytics and related tools

 

Competencies that are nice to have, but not required:

  • Experience as Software Engineer or QA Engineer
  • Experience as a Business Analyst or Product Owner
  • Worked in, and knows best practices of, UX design
  • Database administration, especially MySQL
  • Experience manipulating data
  • Public speaking and presentation skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Information, Computer Science, or related field
