Construction Support Specialist

Our Construction Support Coordinators are located in Canton, Ohio in our corporate office at 2715 Wise Avenue Northwest, Canton, Ohio. The Construction Support Specialist, Jr. uses expertise from working in the industry along with contract details to estimate change orders, analyze variances and confirm construction schedules are accurate and complete

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Identifies and computes labor, material and time requirements to be estimated by reviewing Change Order, Contract, Prints, Specifications and other related documents
  • Estimate and process all Change orders submitted after Operations Release. 
  • Resolve all zero pricing and custom resource pricing on change orders.
  • Obtain GM approval prior to completing Change Order when required.
  • Monitor and assure timely completion of all Change Orders
  • Review all Variance Purchase Orders (VPOs) for accuracy, ensuring the variance reason and responsible party are correct.
  • Analyze all VPOs, looking for trends and ongoing issues, determining what must be discussed at the VPO Committee meeting. 
  • Post all VPOs and return documentation to Support Coordinators.
  • Monitor and assure timely processing of all VPOs
  • Process all job schedules after Operation Release, prior to start to assure Construction Schedules are accurate and complete. Ensure all custom changes have been added to each schedule.
  • Process all Vendor Re-assignments.
  • Other job duties as deemed necessary by Department Manager
Requirements
  • 2-4 years of experience in custom homebuilding estimating or equivalent education. 
  • Must be detail oriented.
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks and have excellent follow up skills.
  • Must have strong math and science skills as well as excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Knowledge of how to read and comprehend blueprints.
  • Knowledge of the workings of plumbing, electrical and HVAC systems.
  • Good interpersonal skills, including excellent written/verbal skills.
  • Must be able to work effectively as a member of a team.
  • Must be self-motivated and punctual.
