Position Summary: Planned Parenthood of Southern New England has an opening for a full time (37.5 hours per week) Facilities Specialist who is willing to travel to PPSNE’s health centers around Connecticut and Rhode Island. The Facilities Specialist assists in the maintenance of the PPSNE buildings and grounds in Connecticut and Rhode Island, including managing vendors, providing direct services and procuring supplies for building maintenance and repairs. Ensures all actions taken contribute to quality care and services for our clients and employees. The Facilities Specialist reports to the Facilities Manager. Essential Functions: - Identifies issues of concern in building operations, develops proposals for redress and implements solutions as appropriate - Plans and performs basic building repairs, miscellaneous jobs and handyman work as needed - Troubleshoots appliances, electrical, plumbing, HVAC and other system and building issues - Develops and executes repair plans or supervises vendors if required - Coordinates with maintenance contractors and vendors to supervise and monitor HVAC, extermination, plumbing, and appliance maintenance, electrical and other services - Maintains inventory of light bulbs, water filters and other basic supplies - Replaces light bulbs, ballasts and water filters and performs other regular maintenance as needed - Performs a variety of preventive maintenance tasks - Monitors cleanliness and upkeep of all buildings, including parking lots, addressing issues with contracted vendors as needed - Monitors sites for compliance with ADA guidelines and DPH regulations, initiating corrective action as needed - Monitors sites for adequacy of layout and safety of the facility - Monitors life-safety equipment to ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations - Interacts with landlords regarding facility maintenance, mechanical support (electrical, heating and plumbing), and external lighting and access - Coordinates activities with the Director of Security to address issues with security equipment and other security concerns - Provides assistance to the Director of Security for assuring access codes are up to date and for collecting keys and access cards from departing staff - Together with the primary site manager and the Facilities Manager, acts as an agency point person for facilities damage and maintenance calls on a 24-hour emergency basis - Acts as a back-up point person for issues relating to security on a 24-hour emergency basis - Works with the Facilities Manager to replace end-life equipment and execute on replacement schedules - Assists the Information Systems and Technology department by ensuring the physical plants and data connections appropriately support the needs of the computer systems and communications equipment - Participates in the review of current organizational systems within the department and provides constructive feedback in order to create organizational change that is proactive and in the best interests of our customers - Contributes to the overall effectiveness of the agency by adhering to established agency policies and practices - Supports the agency’s mission and all of the reproductive health services offered including family planning services, women’s health screenings, testing and treatment of STI’s, birth control methods and abortion services. - Supports efforts of the agency’s diversity program to provide services that are culturally and linguistically competent; takes the initiative to develop own awareness and knowledge of diversity matters Qualifications: - Interested in expanding your analysis and knowledge about the role that racial inequity plays in our society, and are committed to building and/or deepening your commitment to racial equity in your work - Aware of multiple group identities and their dynamics, and brings a high level of self-awareness, empathy, and humility to interpersonal interactions - Interacts effectively and builds trust with a diversity of people, and have demonstrated an ability to effectively work across difference. Bachelor’s degree preferred - At least 2 years of experience in the direct provision of building maintenance and repairs - Experience with the coordination and supervision of service vendors - Ability to coordinate vendors and facilitate work flow - Availability to work evenings and weekends as needed - Basic understanding of building mechanical systems and grounds maintenance - Demonstrated skills prioritizing and organizing workload - Customer/Team orientation, anticipating and responding proactively to the needs and concerns of others - Appreciation for personal responsibility for outcomes and decisions, based on sound judgments - Demonstrated familiarity with OSHA, ADA and other legal requirements - Strong supporter of PPSNE mission and all of the reproductive health services offered - Physical mobility sufficient to move throughout the workspace independently or with minimal assistance - Must be able to lift and move heavy boxes, containers, office furniture, etc - Visual acuity and digit dexterity sufficient to operate office equipment - Ability to travel to building sites within the agency service area as needed.
