Control Officer - Technology Issues Management

Technology Control Engagements and Issues Portfolio Management - Control Officer

Technology Engagement and Issue Portfolio Management is the front line group within Technology Control focused on the management of issues identified by our stakeholders. The group provides a transparent, consistent, repeatable process through a standard accountability model that facilitates effective risk remediation across Wells Fargo Technology.  Technology Engagement and Issue Portfolio Management team provides guidance and monitoring of significant issues from all sources (regulators, internal and external auditors, and control functions as well as self-identified issues) and facilitation of line of defense engagements.

The Front Line Technology Engagement and Issue Portfolio Management Officer will provide expert guidance related to the issues management lifecycle and process steps by partnering with front line leadership and teams.  This role will primarily support the issue portfolio for Information and Cyber Security (ICS) domains in following areas:

  • Meeting requirements of the company’s issue management policy
  • Monitoring reporting across the issue management lifecycle
  • Ensuring effective communications across the life-cycle with timely escalation as appropriate and escalating material concerns and issues to Senior Leadership and Governance forums

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in risk management or 7+ years of financial services industry experience, of which 5+ years must include direct experience in risk management

Desired Qualifications

  • A BS/BA degree or higher
  • Ability to influence across all organizational levels, particularly senior management
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy

Other Desired Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience within an Enterprise Technology function, Audit or Technology Risk function with demonstrated knowledge of Information Security Domains, Technology systems, applications, infrastructure and emerging Technology and associated risks in a business environment
  • Experience in compliance, operational risk, IT systems security, business process mgmt. or financial services, (includes audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, or the management of a process or business with accountability for compliance or operational risk)
  • Broad and significant knowledge of Technology and the associated challenges, risks and required controls inherent in a complex environment, including knowledge of SDLC (particularly Agile), Change Management, Enterprise Architecture, Cloud, Vendor and third party, Data, Artificial Intelligence / Robotics and Process Automation, BCP / Operational Resiliency, problem and incident management, access management, asset management, compliance, information security, Audit/SOC/SOX, and general line of business regulatory requirements across retail banking, lending, capital markets, wealth and investment management, etc.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Technology and Security risk frameworks – COBIT, FFIEC, NIST, ITIL, COSO, BASEL, and OCC Heightened Standards
  • Track record of providing constructive consulting with appropriate issue escalation and offering solutions
  • Strong ability and experience working with and collaborating with leaders and team members at all levels and across functional lines.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and lead in a matrix environment both domestically and internationally
  • Professional certifications such as CPA, CSCP, CRCM, CEGIT, CRISC, CITP, CISA, CISSP

Job Expectations

  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
