Marketing Communications Manager

NATURE AND SCOPE:

The Marketing Communications Manager is a member of the Marketing Division and plays a key role in supporting the development and execution of content and comprehensive communications strategies, including product marketing, internal and network communications, and public relations.

PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES: 

  • Draft, edit, organize, and proof various marketing and communications content, including slides, brochures, web copy, key messaging, etc., to ensure content is comprehensive, compelling, and in accordance with brand standards.
  • Create and manage document and graphic templates for organizational use.
  • Create and manage project plans, tasks, timelines, and communication to delivery deadlines.
  • Monitor and manage social media accounts, develop relevant posts for Twitter, Instagram & Facebook in conjunction with social communications manager.
  • Help translate the "voice of the customer" for the organization.
  • Build and maintain meaningful and cohesive relationships with the Global Division.
  • Support use of division-wide market research study platform to determine if marketing and communications content is resonating; assist with study launch and execution for key fiscal year priorities and projects identified for testing, awareness, and reaction.
  • Perform duties and fulfill responsibilities that may, from time to time, include related or unrelated tasks. 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, or related discipline required
  • Five to seven years of experience in communications, marketing, or comparable agency background required
  • Demonstrated ability in developing and managing multiple projects and associated tasks while producing high-quality results required
  • Experience developing market research plans including purpose, audience, items, and activities preferred
  • Experience using Microsoft Office, Salesforce, and marketing automation tools, Hubspot preferred
  • Writing samples and/or portfolio preferred

Competencies:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for multiple audiences
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of PK-12 education industry, an understanding of issues currently facing education institutions, educators, and administrators and familiarity with the value that Cognia offers in the face of such challenges
  • Think creatively and analytically
  • Write effective marketing and communications copy
  • Translate cross functional needs into research and creative briefs
  • Demonstrate planning and organization skills
  • Effectively perform assigned tasks with minimal direct supervision
  • Demonstrate ability to take ownership of a project and deliver on time and within scope
  • Possess and demonstrate effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
  • The ability to meet deadlines under pressure, multi-task, and handle projects of competing prior

Anticipated Travel (may include local, national, and/or international travel):

  • Occasional travel (10%-20%)
