    Job Summary and Qualifications

    The Registered Nurse Critical Care Manager has accountability and responsibility for the effective and efficient operation of the Emergency Department. The ICU RN Manager directs and coordinates all functions, including clinical, financial, and human and material resources. In this key leadership role, you promote innovation and excellence in clinical, service, and team performance.     ·You will establish clear unit operational goals and hold staff accountable for their responsibilities and performance.

    ·You will assist the director with the financial management of the unit, including participation in the annual budget process, reviewing monthly budget and variance reports, timely submission of patient billing and charge information, and applying cost containment principals as appropriate.

    ·You will ensure that patient care is delivered in a safe, competent and efficient manner as determined by outcomes, quality monitors, and other internal and external processes.

    ·You will ensure the delivery of quality patient care by analyzing data and initiating and/or participating in performance improvement initiatives.

    ·You will hire, engage, evaluate, coach and retain nursing and support staff.

    ·You will maintain positive employee engagement and provide support, education and leadership to the staff. 

    ·You will establish effective working relationships with and round on key constituents (patients, families, employees, and physicians) to enhance communication, confirm alignment, oversee operations and ensure that the patient experience is exceptional.

    ·You will ensure that safety standards are upheld by making decisions and proactively mitigating unnecessary risks in the area of responsibility.

    ·You will maintain all requirements needed to function as a staff RN in order to perform these duties in times of high census and/or minimal staffing.

    ·You will adhere to department productivity measures and manage staffing utilization, staff overtime and non-productive time.

    ·You will ensure all applicable guidelines for accreditation, quality assurance and safe patient care are met.

    Education and Experience

    ·Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required

    ·Master’s Degree in Nursing preferred

    ·5+ years of experience as a Registered Nurse required

    ·2+ years of nursing leadership experience required

    ·Emergency Department experience preferred

    Licensure and Certifications

    ·Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state(s) of practice and/or has an active compact license, in accordance with law and regulation within 90 days of hire date

    ·Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required

    ·Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Advanced Life Support (ALS) required

    ·Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) preferred

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred
