Software Engineer - Testing

Scoping, developing, and execution of automated and manual tests for validation of software impacting the Analytical Instruments portfolio. This position will be a member of the software team and directly interact with both the software development team and other engineering disciplines (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical) to test and validate embedded software and other applications for consistency with customer expectations and success as well as the company's strategic goals.

• Manual and automated test development for Linux based appliances and Windows based software.

• Execution of testing, including tracking of test requirements; development efforts; and results in order to issue reports using automated tools such as Jira, ALM, etc.

• Execution of Validation Protocols to meet expectations of customers within regulated industries such as pharmaceutical and medical device

• Working with third-party and contracting personnel in delivering larger projects requiring supplementary personnel, skill sets, and tools

• Reporting, communication, collaboration, and training with Software Development and other engineering teams

• Working with Functional Engineering Managers to schedule and estimate testing required.

• Creating and maintaining comprehensive testing documentation in alignment with Analytical Instrument's established procedures

• Working with Program Management to develop detailed project plans to monitor and track progress

• Identifying areas where training and tools can provide team growth and development

• Providing technical interface to the customer support staff for the instrument product lines

The ideal candidate would be someone with a passion to work with scientific tools and instruments and regularly goes beyond just testing and into improving overall quality and usability. This ideal candidate should be experienced with developing and working with automated tools that enable regular and repeatable validation of laboratory instruments or other similar appliances. The candidate should be someone who can represent the face of the customer as well as the face of the regulatory organizations that monitor our corporate development, as well as the customer's environment. Their passion, energy, and focus should also include the ability to work within a team of engineers, as well as with related teams in other departments, that results in the highest quality products in the marketplace.

Core Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering related platform required

• 2 years or more in software product testing work experiences required

• 2 years or more software and appliance testing experience preferred

Useful skills and abilities:

• Proven working experience in manual testing of new software to ensure that it meets all acceptance criteria

• Demonstrated customer focus, and cross-functional collaboration/teamwork skills.

• Experienced with all phases of testing within a product development team and throughout the product life cycle, preferably in the scientific instrumentation field.

• Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills

• Detail-oriented, accurate in work and record keeping

• Experience with operation of electro-mechanical instrumentation and equipment as part of the testing regimen.

• Proven ability to translate strategic objectives, user requirements, and acceptance criteria into complete test designs

• Productive, meeting tight schedules with high-quality work

• Experienced with test automation using various tools across multiple platforms

• Proven experience in risk management

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills targeting internal and customer audiences
