Enterprise Project Management Office - Project Manager

The Enterprise Project Management Office(EPMO) Project Manager manages assigned strategic projects, including IS projects, following standard project management methodologies. The Project Manager serves as the leading project management resource for assigned projects. The Project Manager plans, leads, and manages projects of varying levels of size, cost, complexity and impact and ensures adherence to timelines, budget and scope. He/she also manages the overall plan and coordinates cross functional teams, external vendors and consultants throughout the project including initiation, planning, requirements and scope definition, design, build, testing, training and implementation. The project manager also assists in the development of project management standards and tools.


* Develops detailed project plans. Requires detail-oriented, critical thinking skills required to develop an effective work breakdown structure.

* Manages, executes and revises project plans as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.

* Forecasts and manages resource demand and constraints across project deliverables.

* Sets attainable timeline and budgetary objectives and manages project constraints towards successful execution of the project.

* Managing and tracking day-to-day operational aspects of a project planning, monitoring and reporting on project status.

* Maintains proactive approach to resolving project problems, escalates issues when necessary, and facilities decision-making.

* Leads enterprise wide cross-functional project teams through all phases of the project lifecycle from initiation to planning to implementation and closeout.

* Facilitates necessary internal and external meetings and prepares necessary minutes and status reports to ensure project tasks are being completed in a timely fashion and decisions and action items are appropriately addressed.

* Develops and maintains strong working relationships with project team, end-users, vendors and internal and external stakeholders.

* Demonstrates knowledge of the population-specific differences and needs of patients in appropriate, specific populations from neonate through adolescence and applies them to practice. Demonstrates cultural sensitivity in all interactions with patients/families and co-workers.

* Demonstrates support for the mission, values and goals of the organization through behaviors that are

consistent with the CT Children's Standards.



* Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience, Master's Degree preferred.

* Minimum 5 years of enterprise wide project management experience demonstrating growth in managing increasingly complex projects, programs, portfolios, business plans, or pro forma programs, preferably in a healthcare environment. (7+ years preferred)



* Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) framework, or other project management methodology, and working within an Enterprise Project Management Office (PMO) are preferred.

* Prior experience with enterprise wide projects such as, Electronic Health Record (EHR) implementation, Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE), Electronic Medication Administration Record (eMAR), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Customer Relationship(CRM) systems

* Strong understanding of continuous improvement methodology is preferred.


* Demonstrated expertise in project management and planning;

* Demonstrated critical thinking skills required to develop project plans and an effective work breakdown structure;

* High level of interpersonal and consultative skills needed to support dynamic work teams and communicate effectively with a wide variety of individuals, including patients/families, hospital administrative staff, IS staff, clinicians and external contacts and vendors;

* Proven analytical and critical thinking skills; and an aptitude for technology;

* Strong facilitation and communication


* Plan for large initiatives/projects, managing all tasks required to meet client and business needs within budget and targeted deadlines;

* Execute and revise project plans to meet changing needs and requirements;

* Manage and track day-to-day operational aspects of a project, report on project status, escalate issues, and facilitate decision-making;

* Guide/mentor others in project management during planning and execution.

* Write and present for a variety of audiences.
