Associate Advocate

Join People Management (Staff Management | SMX, Centerline, SIMOS) as our next Associate Advocate. 

Our Associate Advocate serves as an advocate for our injured associates and coordinates effective flow of claims information between all parties.  The main object of this role is to improve the quality of workers’ compensation claim handling practices and ensure that this quality of claim handling is consistent for all claims.  The Associate Advocate meets these objectives by making telephonic contact with the injured associate, the associate’s manager/supervisor, and if needed risk management, third party administrator claims adjuster, and the medical facility.  The initial contact with the injured associate provides reassurances to the associate, answers questions, identifies concerns, introduces the third party administrator and explains their role, outlines the benefit of light duty and authorized medical facilities/occupational doctors, and establishes the Associate Advocate as the associate’s primary source of assistance. The Associate Advocate facilitates the return-to-work process. 

 
Essential Job Functions:  

CUSTOMER SERVICE 

Initiate contact with injured associate within 24 hours of notification of injury.  Explain workers’ compensation overview, third party administrator’s role and your role.  Assess associate’s understanding of injury, treatment, and satisfaction of medical care.  Facilitate communication on specific benefits questions.  Listen to concerns and encourage associate to call with questions or issues.  Establish open communication/maintain trust.

CLERICAL SUPPORT 
If current medical status is not updated in system, after every visit contact the medical provider.  Obtain current diagnosis/condition and medical treatment plan.  Obtain current work status, including any work restrictions if applicable.  Coordinate the return to work.  Monitor associate’s adherence to medical treatment plan, prescribed therapy and/or diagnostic studies.

 
Experience:  

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Pleasant and clear telephone speaking voice.
  • Computer operating and database management skills.
  • Organizational and follow-up skills
  • Empathetic listening skills coupled with innate curiosity.
  • Ability to work with all levels of business contacts including, injured associate, director of operations, field office managers/supervisors, risk management, third party administrator claims adjusters, medical facility staff members.
  • Knowledge of company’s operating environment.
