SVP Payor Channel Development

The Senior Vice President of Payor Channel Development is responsible for creating and maintaining Company’s Payor executive relationships in current and expanding growth markets.  Company is focused on consumerism and payment reform and is leading the industry in the shift to value-based payment reimbursement in surgical care.  This position will lead the company’s executive engagement with payors and key employer brokers in the markets we serve, successfully positioning Company’s high-value surgical network.  The Company Network enables employers and payors to participate with providers and health systems through Payor program alignment and the establishment of bundled contract arrangements to be delivered in our 70+ ambulatory centers of excellence.  In collaboration with Company’s senior leaders, the Senior Vice President of Payor Channel Development will also be responsible for collaborating and leading the development and evolution of Company current regional operations and payer contracting teams to achieve Company’s growth and alignment objectives.  

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting or Healthcare Administration or related field 10 (+) years previous healthcare or insurance executive leadership experience required
  • Extensive healthcare management and executive leadership experience required
  • Profit and loss responsibility in a start-up and/or established business strongly preferred
  • Proven experience managing C-suite relationships, Business development, Finance and Managed care while overseeing sales distribution (direct sales or broker-driven) required
  • Knowledge and experience in market analysis, strategic planning, budgeting, payor relations, provider relations and contract negotiations required
  • Ability to advise employers on health insurance strategies including value-based arrangements and high- performance networks required
  • Demonstrate excellent oral and written presentation skills required to develop C-suite relationships and to close contracts with major accounts and providers required
  • Demonstrate leadership skills in strategic planning, organizing, motivating people, controlling expenses and effective staffing required
  • Display ability to adapt to fluid situations and solve complex problems required
  • Ability to travel on a regular basis required

 ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Masters Degree in Business or Healthcare Administration is strongly preferred
  • Ability to attend Board and corporate meetings at the Leawood, KS office

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Works effectively with the Executive Leadership at Company and its partner companies in conjunction with the Board of Directors and executive leadership team to accomplish growth and wealth creation goals
  • Develops, communicates and implements the organization’s values, mission, and vision as they relate to accomplishing our growth goals
  • Ability to lead strategic engagements across a matrix organizational structure for the benefit of the company’s key initiatives
  • Develops and executes short and long-range plans, strategies and budgets for Payor Channel Development to meet the market growth goals of the Market and Business Development business unit
  • Develop an annual marketing plan and budget to position Company at conferences, seminars and other associations that are needed to achieve the growth goals of the company
  • Travels to the markets on a regular basis to oversee, evaluate, and support the business development and regional operations staff to drive same store and adjacent growth goals
  • Builds and maintains positive relations with partner company leadership and boards, payor partners, provider partners, other channel development team members and staff
  • Responsible for all payor executive relationship management and value based contracting goals assigned to the payor channel team
  • Builds out the market payor development team and mentors’ staff to succeed

 SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS

  • Champion Company’s highly differentiated surgical care platform and its enablement to support the shift to value based care programs within the Payor channel
  • Obtain national and state specific bundled payor contracts for our provider organizations focusing on Total Joint, Spine, Cardiovascular, Bariatric and Multi-specialty surgical care
  • Own and manage national payor relationships and partnerships once contracts are in place. Co-own state payor relationships along with our Market Presidents and regional payor contracting teams in specific territories.
  • Lead the coordination of payor relationship management and engagement activities, coordinating Company’s established in-market payor contracting teams, with an ability to navigate both fee for service and bundled contracting relationships
  • Build and maintain executive relationships in key focus markets of Florida, Tri-States, Ohio and Texas with key aligned health system leadership, medical directors and payor leadership in the market.
  • Collaborate with employer / broker channel team for direct to employer sales and contracting strategies
  • Collaborate on the broker and consultant relationship management strategies as part of payor alignment and engagement with Company consumer and employer teams
  • Represent the organization with key external constituents like trade associations, external events, media, etc.
  • Create, execute, own and evolve our value-based payment strategy.
  • Support and enable the growth plans of the company including close coordination with Regional Market Presidents and the Provider Market Development teams.
  • Achieve key objectives and key performance indicators.
