Kadlec Regional Medical Center has an exciting opportunity for a Manager Laboratory Services to join our growing Laboratory Administration team located in Richland, Washington!

Shift Details: Full time, 1.0, Day Shift

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in in Health Science from an accredited educational institution
  • Current MT or MLS (ASCP or equivalent) Certification
  • Seven (7) years of laboratory experience
  • Three (3) years of Laboratory management/leadership experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree from an accredited educational institution
  • One (1) year of experience implementing lean practices and process

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

As a Manager Laboratory Services you will be responsible for planning, coordinating and directly supervising the activities of the Laboratory department in accordance with Providence philosophy, objectives, policies, procedures and standards; Promotes safety, fosters change and teamwork to ensure constructive relationships and growth, while maintaining a positive and professional image when interacting with patients, their families, physicians, employees and general public.

  • Demonstrate and sustains compliance with the Kadlec Caregiver Standards of Excellence and Code of Conduct
  • Collaborate with Human Resources on personnel issues
  • Collaborate with Talent Acquisition on recruitment items including completing requisitions, interviewing, hiring
  • Insure appropriate staff competencies are maintained (licensure, certification, orientation, mandatory training and continuing education)
  • Provide leadership by developing a positive work environment; Provides guidance and support to staff members to ensure that they are able to perform their work effectively and efficiently; Directs the activities of the department to ensure that continuous quality and cost effective services are provided make decisions, delegate tasks and encourage staff to use their talents to achieve the desired outcomes; Appropriately credits staff and/or other team members for their effort and accomplishment
  • Demonstrate professional interpersonal and verbal skills when communicating with a wide variety of people from differing literacy levels, languages and cultures; Communicates effectively in a compassionate manner to patients, families, visitors and other staff members; Exhibits the necessary written skills for effective communication and documentation
  • Exhibit the necessary skills to build effective teams by coaching, building trust, and training staff to work collaboratively and cohesively with other staff and/or team members in a variety of settings; Encourages positive interaction and if necessary, directs staff to work directly with other team members when resolving issues; Monitors key processes to identify and define the teams effectiveness
  • Develop and implement work schedules and work assignments fairly, equally, and in a manner which is consistent with staff learning and development plans
  • Develop, implement and maintains departmental policies and procedures in accordance with CLIA, Joint Commission, Federal, State and Municipal requirements to ensure safe and effective services; Anticipates and prioritizes workflow and adjusts work assignments to prevent delays and meet workflow demands
  • Utilize available resources to recognize errors/problems and takes corrective action and assists with problem resolutions
  • Anticipate and adjusts operating plans to meet facility goals Coordinates and collects statistical and other information to support and develop current and/or new services while insuring cost effective processes and development plans are in place
  • Participate in the development of the Clinical Lab annual budget; Remains responsible to monitor, evaluate, report outliers and is active in maintain expenses and labor within budget
  • Collaborate with revenue and billing departments to ensure charge master is accurate; Develops workflows and participates in appropriate and timely patient billing
  • Develop and maintains the quality control and quality assurance programs by developing indicators to measure, monitor, and report performance to other team members; Seeks input from various customer groups in order to develop and maintain quality.
  • Embrace the Service Standards in all aspects of position; Presents and conducts self in a professional manner; Provides support to coworkers and customers while demonstrating service excellence by building positive interpersonal relations to ensure productive and positive relationships are maximized.
  • Develop a deep understanding of customers perspectives and needs and works to meet their expectations; Builds a culture of true caring by behavior and interactions with others
  • Communicate regularly with the Laboratory Director; Represents the Laboratory Services department, as assigned, on committees, task forces, value streams, etc..
  • Function clinically as a Laboratory Technologist and is proficient in all clinical areas of the lab
  • Act as a patient care advocate to ensure that the patients/residents wishes are heard; Makes sure that the patient is receiving only those services that are effective and safe
  • Must be proficient/competent in all clinical disciplines which include: Blood Bank (Immunohematology), Clinical Chemistry, Immunology and Serology, Hematology, Hemostasis (coagulation studies), Bacteriology, Urinalysis, Phlebotomy (including Blood Donor procedures) and all procedures involved with the procurement and completion of Reference Laboratory studies
  • Ensure that policies and procedures are established for monitoring individuals who conduct pre analytical, analytical, and post analytical phases of testing to assure they are competent and maintain their competency to process specimens, performs test procedures, and reports test results promptly and proficiently, and whenever necessary, identifies needs for remedial training or continuing education to improve skills
  • Ensure that testing systems developed and used for each of the tests performed in the laboratory provide quality laboratory services for all aspects of test performance
  • Provide a safe environment in which employees are protected from physical, chemical, and biological hazards Inspects the physical condition of the department and its equipment and ensures that repairs and maintenance are promptly made
  • Implement care/services that recognize age/diversity specific needs/issues of customers served
