We are looking for a dynamic Early Childhood Education Specialist (Bilingual - Spanish) to join our team!

The geography of this position is flexible as the position will require extensive travel to transitioning programs across the country as needed (up to 75% of the time during the initial start-up of transitioning programs).

This position serves as an Early Childhood Education Specialist who provides support to a national network of Head Start and Early Head Start programs working in partnership with Shine Implement to provide high-quality early childhood education across the nation. This position is chiefly responsible for supporting Shine Early Learning partner programs in operational and programmatic start-up, ongoing professional development, monitoring and on-site support, and other tasks as needed to achieve educational quality and positive child outcomes. This position works closely with the Director of Early Learning Support and Transition team, and other key leadership staff to ensure that outcomes are achieved for children of all abilities. The Specialist will be required to meet the needs and expectations of the partner and adjust accordingly with a positive attitude with new ways to accomplish work activities and objectives.

Bilingual Early Childhood Education Specialist: Translation and interpretation as needed; including but not limited to translating documents, interviewing, communicating and facilitating trainings, activities, and workshops for partners and staff.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

This Specialist will work in collaboration with others in the Director(s) of Early Learning Transition and Support Team (DELST) to fulfill the following activities:

  • Supporting the DELST with interview process, hiring, and onboarding of all education staffing positions as identified in the partner's organizational structure, including teaching staff, Center Directors, Early Learning/Disabilities Specialists, Director of Education.
  • Assess partner's educational materials and equipment, determine needs and place orders to stock classrooms with necessary educational materials.
  • Ensure that the initial classroom setup is aligned with Acelero/Shine Early Learning standards.
  • Support the administration of the structured program evaluation instruments such as Strategic Integration Start-Up System (SISS), Transition SASCIE and SASCIE to measure the fidelity of the early learning model.
  • Work with DELST and local education leads when hired to plan and implement initial, differentiated, and sequential professional development for education staff.
  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative audit on the Performance-Based Assessment, Shine Insight, and Coaching system and establish a quality improvement plan if needed
  • Conduct classroom visits, including informal walkthroughs, formal observations (using standardized or internal tools) and administration of classroom quality assessments (using standardized tools such as CLASS or ECERS/ITERS)
  • Observe Professional Learning Communities Meetings and provide feedback to educational leadership to improve facilitation through the reflective cycle
  • Collaborate and coordinate with other service area leadership.
  • Provide individualized follow-up support to the educational leadership level of development and plan cohorts- meetings/trainings for educational leadership with similar needs
  • Adjusts leadership style as appropriate to meet the needs of the situation and adapt to partner expectations.
  • Responds to change with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn new ways to accomplish work activities and objectives.
  • Translation and interpretation as needed; including but not limited to translating documents, facilitating compliance-based trainings, interviewing and communication with partners and staff.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education (or related field) required. Master's degree preferred.
  • Expertise in Head Start and Early Head Start.
  • Expertise in bilingual education and experience in conducting structured classroom observations (ECERS, ELLCO, CLASS).
  • Bilingual Required-translation and interpretation.
  • 3+ years' experience in the early childhood field, including experience in coaching, supervision, program management and/or providing technical assistance.
  • Demonstrated take-charge, "by example" leadership abilities to motivate and inspire others; ability to drive towards results while maintaining balance of process and relationships.
  • Demonstrate the ability to differentiated support to match the varying levels of experience and expertise of the local leadership.
  • Committed to closing the achievement gap for children in Head Start
  • Physical exam and background checks are required for this position.
  • Travel required locally or long-distance up to 75% of the time for work-related meetings and functions.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
