Automation Engineer

All experience levels will be considered with the job title adjusted accordingly. Serve as an Automation Engineer within a large agile project. This position will be part of a dedicated project team focused entirely on growth in a core business area. The emphasis of this team will be to implement a new suite of insurance software to lay the groundwork for future growth. Specifically, this position will be focused on designing and writing programs that run automatic tests on new software.






Job Requirements:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ability to write and execute test cases
  • Must be comfortable obtaining a clear understanding of the business requirements by working alongside the business analysts and software engineers
  • Must be able to write complex queries and verify data
  • Must be able to identify automation test cases from a pool of functional test cases
  • Experienced in creating an automation testing plan
  • Complete end to end testing from input files
  • Work in close collaboration with software engineers and business analysts to ensure consistent alignment and direction
  • Identify and escalate risks or impediments during sprints
  • Actively participate in sprint activities/ceremonies and in other project meetings
  • Provide content to the quality assurance lead for status reporting and metrics
  • Provide input into issue resolution priority
  • Identify testing risks and issues as they arise; communicate and escalate accordingly
  • Assist in the development of comprehensive test strategy and test plan documentation
  • Follow the standards in place for the quality assurance area
  • Perform Root Cause Analysis on test automation results and fix automation scripts as necessary
  • Look for opportunities to provide process improvement suggestions
  • Log incidents with thorough detail in required testing tool(s)
  • Respond to users or team members in timely and professional manner
  • Complete tasks in a timely manner
  • Communicate effectively in verbal and written formats
  • Assist in providing testing estimates during sprint planning
  • Research tools and provide input to decisions on methods and tools for automation
  • Research best automation practices

QUALIFICATIONS

ESSENTIAL:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in IT related field or equivalent combination of education/experience
  • Knowledge of the SDLC, business processes, and technical aspects of software solutions
  • Knowledge of agile methodologies and the scrum framework
  • 3+ years of in-depth quality assurance experience
  • 3+ years of automation testing experience specifically
  • 3+ years of experience working with selenium or another similar testing framework
  • Highly motivated, organized, big-picture thinker and a self-starter
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills

PREFERRED:


  • Software development, quality management software experience, and collaboration tool(s) experience
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt
  • Agile certifications
  • 1-2+ years of experience in the P&C Insurance industry
  • Experience with Duck Creek core product suite
