Database Developer (AVP)

The Database Developer will assist the existing DEV team in migrating the application’s Sybase ASE DB’s / objects to Oracle, with the translation of several Sybase ASE stored procedures and triggers written in T-SQL to the Oracle equivalents in PL/SQL. This person will be responsible also for the implementation of new and/or revised application systems and programs in coordination with the technology team. Overall, this person will collaborate with the application DEV Team to perform applications systems analysis and development activities.

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in software development using RDBMS (i.e. client/server model, with strong dependency on DB internal stored procedures)
  • Solid knowledge on Oracle (10g or higher) RDBMS
  • Strong skills in writing SQL scripts and Oracle (PL/SQL) programs
  • Strong skills in database system analysis (technical / functional requirements, design, development, testing, implementation)
  • Good skills in reading Sybase ASE and/or Microsoft SQL Server (T-SQL) programs
  • Intermediate skills in reading/writing Linux shell and/or Perl scripts
  • Experience with performance tuning and troubleshooting involving database systems
  • Experience with application data migration / ETL procedures (using client tools such as bcp, exp/imp, SQL *Loader, etc.), DB migrations and version upgrades across different RDBMS platforms
