The Risk Management Services Safety Manager is responsible for the leadership, innovation, and management necessary to identify, evaluate, mitigate, and monitor the company’s operational and strategic risk as well as drive a culture of safety.
Essential Job Functions include:

• Evaluate client job descriptions, facilities, loss histories, and safety programs to determine if partnership with the client is in the best interest of the company
• Consult with Clients regarding any findings when performing site tours or performing trend analysis in an effort to eliminate or reduce future risks and related exposure costs
• Develop and implement safety training programs, ensuring documentation is up to date and meets organizational and regulatory requirements
• Work with operations and safety teams, brokers, carriers, etc. to design and implement policies and programs to appropriately control risks and proactively manage workers compensation claims to minimize costs in a high deductible program
• Establish and maintain an effective return to work program for injured employees
• Develop and distribute reports to multiple audiences to communicate claims volume, severity and cost trends in order to review and to promote loss mitigation and control efforts
• Provide support, education and training to staff to build risk awareness within the organization
• Maintain thorough understanding of OSHA regulations and analyze impact of any changes; making necessary changes to policies, procedures, training, etc. as a result of such changes
• Responsible for all OSHA compliance and reporting

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in insurance, risk management, or other field of study related to the risk management profession
• Minimum of five (5) years of progressive safety and risk management experience, including a solid understanding of claims management processes, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• OSHA Certification (minimum of ten-hour OSHA certificate completion)
• Ability to assess incidents, injuries and work environments through OSHA guidelines lens with sound reasoning, decision and problem-solving skills
• Knowledge of federal, state and local laws and regulations related to workers compensation, employee health and safety to include OSHA, HIPPA, FMLA and ADA.
• Skilled negotiator with the ability to understand and acknowledge each parties’ position while effectively persuading parties to reach an agreement reflective of the company’s target goals
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with diverse population of employees, managers, upper management, physicians, attorneys and outside vendors and convey one’s message in a clear, concise and professional manner, considering one’s audience, in all forms of media (i.e. phone, voicemail, email, face-to-face) and handles conflicts and disagreements constructively;
• Proficient multi-tasking capabilities; able to prioritize multiple competing priorities while remaining compliant with policies and delivering against deadlines;
• Strong attention to detail; demonstrating attentiveness to all aspects of a task or process, and accuracy;
• Proven communication skills; able to convey one’s message in a clear, concise and professional manner, considering one’s audience, in all forms of media (i.e. phone, voicemail, email, face-to-face) and handles conflicts and disagreements constructively;
• Proven problem-solving skills; able to identify important aspects of a problem, gather appropriate information, determine potential causes, and specify alternative solutions;
• Proficient in Microsoft Office / Word / Excel / PowerPoint and ability to learn specialized programs specific to the profession;
