Sr. Consumer Underwriter

Job Description:

Reviews applications for consumer loans or leases to determine creditworthiness. Inputs relevant information into the system and contacts the customer/dealer with decision. Ensures applications are accurate and complete. May assist in the training of more junior underwriters. Reviews applications with low-level to mid-level complexity, including consumer income analysis and business financial analysis. Associates in these positions may work directly with the customer and/or through a third party such as a dealer or banking center associate.

Required Skills:

  • Ability to meet production, quality and service standards along with receiving direct coaching and feedback
  • Excellent analytic and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to perform multiple tasks within limited time frames
  • Exhibit professional demeanor in all situations
  • Solid knowledge of overall PC functionality in a Windows environment
  • Strong typing skills and ability to navigate multiple mainframe and web based systems
  • Strong phone skills with a proven track record of delighting customers
  • Flexible, willing to learn and self-motivated
  • Flexibility to work weekends (Saturdays and potentially Sundays) and holidays
  • Ability to provide coaching to peers, business partners and other teammates

Desired Skills:

  • Prior Consumer Vehicle Lending (CVL) experience (or other auto industry experience)
  • Advanced knowledge of CVL underwriting policies, procedures and standards
  • Prior Underwriting, Finance or Accounting Experience
