Safety & Environmental/HR Generalist

Provides guidance and support to management and plant personnel regarding Safety and Health programs, regulatory requirements, procedure development and training, correct and timely record keeping and reporting/auditing of procedures. Supports environmental program compliance when required. Ensures compliance with OSHA and suggests best practices to continuously improve operations. In addition, the candidate must be bilingual and have HR Generalist experience with recruiting, payroll, and employee benefits.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


  • Develop, initiate, and maintain Health & Safety programs to minimize or eliminate injuries, accidents, and workers compensation cost. Including improvement of MPL's training programs and systems
  • Maintain MPL's Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) records by managing the hazard analysis process for all new materials/chemicals coming into the plant, maintaining data entry and records, and auditing of the system for compliance
  • Generate and publish timely HSE reports as required
  • Provide health & safety guidance, coaching & instruction to all levels of management and employees to improve health & safety performance and to resolve health & safety issues
  • Assist in accident investigations, causation analysis and corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence, as required
  • Assist in managing environmental sustainability program
  • Help ensure health & safety procedures and systems are maintained to meet regulatory requirements
  • Manage routine and non-routine industrial hygiene sampling events at manufacturing facilities
  • Promote health, safety, and well-being at all opportunities.
  • Continually engage management to ensure desired safety behaviors are being demonstrated at all levels of the organization
  • Actively Recruit candidates to meet production requirements
  • Manage payroll process and labor reporting
  • Maintain personnel files for compliance
  • Facilitate and help drive lean principles in the organization with primary focus on the labor workforce.
  • Translate for management on an as needed basis.

  • POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education:

  • Safety Professional certification preferred
  • HR Generalist experience

Experience:

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in an industrial manufacturing environment
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience working with environmental/regulatory issues

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of industrial hygiene and safety, occupational health, and hazard communication
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and permits
