BIM Coordinator:

The BIM Coordinator will report to the VP Operations Mechanical and will be expected to perform a variety of complex duties within established company guidelines and policies. The job holder will be managing multiple projects in various phases simultaneously and must maintain excellent communication with internal and external customers regarding expectations and timelines for deliverables. The BIM Coordinator will support the estimating department in the pre-planning phase in evaluating incoming projects, formulating design alternatives and solutions, managing feasibility studies and generating cost estimates. During the project, the BIM Coordinator will be responsible for the development and coordination of all project drawings, and will provide the fabrication and construction teams with technical and administrative support. The BIM Coordinator will take an active role and contribute to ensuring project timelines and profitability metrics are being met. The BIM Coordinator will utilize their expertise in identifying and communicating technical and coordination challenges that could impact these metrics and develop solutions to mitigate.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Building Information Materials, CAD, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering or Construction Management Preferred. Associate Degree with equivalent work related experience acceptable.

Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification Preferred

3-6 Years' Experience

Proficient in using technology and applications including Microsoft Project, Auto Desk, CAD, CAD Pipe, Revit, Quick Pen, BIM 360, Adobe Acrobat, Blue Beam

Proficient in the development and interpretation of 3D Piping, P&ID's, plan, elevation, detail, isometric and spool drawings.

Knowledge of mechanical and commercial systems, their design, components and function.

Knowledge of construction quality control

Ability to make operating, administrative and procedural decisions

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral

Excellent documentation, time management and organization abilities

OSHA 30

Must be able to travel to customer sites to survey, perform layout, support field personnel and meet with customer

Prior experience with Leica field surveying equipment, Leica Captivate and Total Station knowledge is a plus

Duties & Responsibilities

Regular and punctual attendance

Evaluate projects, estimate design project requirements, formulate design alternatives and solutions, perform value engineering and assist in the production of cost estimates.

Participate in project organization and planning, reviewing specifications, creating project submittals, maintaining submittal registry, submitting RFI and change orders.

Perform a review of each project and associated drawings to identify potential coordination issues, value engineering options, MEP schedule, coordination and constructability issues.

Participates in procurement activities including reviewing estimates, material takeoff, creating bill of materials, ordering, tracking and scheduling materials.

Manage BIM process, including preparing and distributing engineering instructions, participating in or hosting weekly coordination meetings, and running regular QC project meetings.

Survey sites using robotic total stations, data collectors, digital levels and GPS units.

Perform layout of mechanical pipping, ductwork, plumbing and other systems.

Produce MEP shop drawings, design documents, isometrics and drawings, cut lists, piece lists, bend tickets and weld maps for fabrication and construction using specifications, design instructions, customer supplied drawings, models.

Delegate, supervise and collaborate work of other APEX coordinators and draftsmen and with CAD, BIM and Engineering Subcontractors to produce required project drawings. Monitor and execute quality control and ensure approved design, material control, documentation and quality control practices are followed and communicated properly.

Support and coordinate field installation work to maintain MEP schedule.

Monitor projects through job costing activities and quality control provisions to ensure project is in accordance with drawings and project metrics.

Provide ongoing layout and technical support throughout the project. Provide timely response in answering any requests for clarification.

Assist and Coordinate with site inspections and commissioning activities as may be required.

Prepare and maintain project close out documents including red line as built drawings.
