Job Description Summary

The Project Manager (PM) is responsible for planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating projects within Human Resources. This position reports to the Vice President, Human Resources & Sustainability, and performs a wide range of complex project management duties in an engaging and inclusive manner, with strong attention to detail and deadlines. This position collaborates with HR Leadership and a broad array of stakeholders across campus to manage projects with university-wide reach.

Job Description

Essential Functions:

  • Supports the VP in the development and execution of short- and long-term projects, in alignment with University priorities.

  • Communicates effectively with stakeholders to ensure transparency and understanding of the deliverables.

  • Facilitates and/or contributes to team or project meetings to convey project timelines, milestones, and updates.

  • Prioritizes and manages multiple projects simultaneously and follows up on time-critical issues. 

  • Develops full-scale project plans, including defining project tasks, resource requirements, estimating work scope, establishing timelines, and tracking project progress. Identifies risks, project requirements, and project activities to ensure on-time and high-quality delivery. Delivers project results predictably, on time and on budget.

  • Demonstrates hands-on, detail-oriented ability in managing the projects associated with the dynamic responsibilities and priorities of the team and campus stakeholders. Proactively identifies resource gaps necessary for project completion, and offers solutions.

  • Conducts research and in-depth analysis on relevant topics. 

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree and two to four years of relevant experience to include at least one year of project management experience.

  • Knowledge of practices and procedures involved in project management, including, but not limited to, research, benchmarking, best practices, planning, and execution.

  • Ability to anticipate project needs, plan ahead, and proactively and strategically meet those needs in a timely manner. 

  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible and incorporate feedback into an interactive process.

  • Ability to work independently with attention to detail and sound judgment.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community.

  • Ability to organize work flow, manage and track multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to be versatile, learn and act on new information, while holding sensitive information confidential. 

  • Proficient using Google Suite applications such as Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides. 

  • Knowledge of and experience implementing project management software. 

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • General knowledge of HR functions such as: recruiting and employment services, benefits and compensation, training and development, equal opportunity and compliance, and HR Information Systems.

  • Experience in higher education environments.
