Job Overview: 

Market by Macy’s is a gathering place where ease and convenience meet the brands our customers love.  Customers will find a connection in their community and discover new experiences and events in our stores.  As a Market by Macy’s colleague, you are responsible for prioritizing the customer to provide an outstanding shopping experience by demonstrating superior product knowledge across multiple selling areas and by the use of technology tools.    

Essential Functions:

  • Ensure the customer is the top priority by actively attending to their needs whether in-store or by leveraging technology enabled selling tools, regardless of whether the interaction culminates in a sale.
  • Role model the We Care service model (safety, support, service).
  • Assist the customer in making the best product choices by focusing on size, fit, and style by leveraging product knowledge and digital resources (product descriptions, customer reviews, etc.).
  • Promote your services by leveraging company social media assets to engage with customers.
  • Effectively develop and maintain relationships with peers and People Leaders to problem solve and create the best possible outcome for the customer.  Share customer feedback daily to create a better customer experience.
  • Demonstrate a professional, can-do attitude.
  • Maintain high customer floor readiness standards by ensuring receipt of new merchandise, unpacking new merchandise, restocking merchandise, setting up back-stock, effectuating signing and price changes, merchandising incoming inventory according to visual guidelines, and supporting the reconfiguration of store fixtures to prepare new layout and visual presentation.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the use of Point of Sale (POS) systems, client acquisition systems, and other store technology, including, but not limited to, computers, tablets, smart phones, work-associated apps, and social media
  • Understand the promotional calendar and utilize it for the purposes of driving sales and appropriately setting the floor.
  • Ensure shortage prevention initiatives are executed.
  • Meet goals.
  • Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality.
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Minimum 1-year selling or retail experience required
  • Ability to effectively communicate and present information to customers, peers, and all levels of management.
  • Basic math functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Able to use a calculator.
  • Self-starter, able to work independently and as part of a team and must have good time management skills.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Takes pride in work they are doing.
  • Maintain a positive outlook.
  • Flexible with scheduling and available to work retail hours, which may include day, evening, weekends, and/or holidays based on department and store/company needs.                        

Physical Requirements:

  • This position involves constant moving and standing, standing for at least two consecutive hours, lifting at least 30 lbs, close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment
