Maintenance Worker


Maintenance Worker is responsible for a variety of jobs under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor. This position will perform routine maintenance, preventive maintenance, some resident work orders and a variety of other tasks as requested or needed. y will also be responsible for shop upkeep, neat and orderly supply rooms and some inventory work. Maintenance Worker will respond to emergency calls and provide campus security.


  1. Perform routine preventive maintenance and minor to major repairs to ensure existing facilities are in good standing and equipment runs smoothly.
  2. Act as a first responder to campus emergencies including, but not limited to 911 calls, fire alarms, health related problems from residents and other emergencies. Assess situations to determine appropriate next steps.
  3. Perform campus security tasks on-foot and by vehicle. Provide escort to staff, residents, visitors and others when needed. Continuously monitor the buildings, equipment and grounds for unusual situations and incidents. Report incidents to appropriate staff and proper authorities as needed.
  4. Assist in set-up and take-down of events as assigned.
  5. Pick-up and deliver items such as new and used linen, supplies, packages, and campus mail to predetermined locations. Remove accumulated trash/garbage and dispose as scheduled.
  6. Assist in the renovation of new and up-keep of existing resident units. Provide moving assistance as needed.
  7. Maintain company vehicles by performing daily fluid level checks, periodic maintenance, washing and waxing as needed. Participate in the Snow Driver Program when assigned.
  8. Perform other duties and projects as assigned.


Education Background

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

Licensure, Registration, Certification

  • Valid Washington State Driver's License is required.
  • Unexpired Auto Insurance is required.

Special Training/Skills

  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, carpentry and electrical is desired.
  • Basic skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows Applications.
  • Reliability in attendance and punctuality.
  • Demonstrated ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language to communicate with customers.

Work Experience

  • One plus years of general maintenance experience.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to work in all environmental conditions inside and outside the buildings.
  • Must be able to lift up to fifty pounds using proper body mechanics.
  • Ability to bend, stoop and kneel frequently.
  • Ability to walk up and down flights of stairs and walk for long periods of time.
  • Ability to climb ladders, push and pull items.


HIGH RISK: Likely to have frequent occupational exposure with patient's blood or other body fluids. May require protective equipment to be worn during some aspects of direct patient care.

SOME (COVID-19) RISK: Possible occupational exposure to residents or clients with COVID-19. May require personal protective equipment (PPE) to be worn during some aspects or seasons of job.
