Sr. Project Manager (BUF 2112)

Functional Role Description:
The SPM role at Middough is a combination of business development and project leadership.  The SPM is an entrepreneur.  He / she pursues new clients, expands existing clients, and manages portfolios of client projects. SPMs provide leadership and organization for professional client relationship development and management. The SPM demonstrates excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and maintains specific knowledge of resource planning and scheduling functions, contracts, and risk management. This position is fully responsible for the overall development and execution of a portfolio of projects including: project safety, quality, profitability, client satisfaction, control of available resources, scope, schedule, budget and contractual requirements. The SPM possesses broad knowledge, understanding and experience with multiple project delivery methods including A/E, EPCM, and Design Build.

Essential Functions:
  • Understands that their leadership is critical in demonstrating and living a culture of EHS and Quality at all times.
  • Lives by Middough core values. (Being professional, honoring commitments, taking initiative, and continuous improvement).
  • Supports business and relationship developments activities of the General Manager(GM).
  • In smaller satellite offices may be responsible for the local operation in concert with the GM.
  • Coordinates development of qualifications and presentations with marketing in pursuit of work.
  • Develops proposals, project specification/scopes and helps negotiate final contracts.
  • Focuses on the pursuit of major projects in concert with regional office(s).
  • Assists in preparation of project execution strategy and assures team buy-in.
  • Manages project financials, pricing and cash flow.
  • Manages project deliverables to ensure the profitability and technical performance of the project and develops innovative actions to correct variances to scope, budget and/or schedule.
  • Coordinates completion of defined work scope for a project between disciplines/locations involved.
  • Monitors changes in scope/schedule and secures Change Authorizations, as required.
  • Develops, reviews and approves all project management documents via the DTSR including: scope development, project costs and schedules, and internal/external communications.
  • Exercises cost efficient and innovative approaches to gain value-add recognition.
  • Anticipates, recognizes and identifies key project issues/problems and establishes objectives and priorities in solving them and determines solutions and directs their implementation.
  • Acts as a cohesive team builder in a satellite office.
  • Prepares periodic reports for Middough and the client to track cost, schedule, and quality performance.
Skills and Qualifications:
  • 10+ years project management experience in a consulting organization
  • Possesses an understanding of P & L statements and how to manage same
  • Experience with and general knowledge of safety and contract/liability issues
  • Accredited Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering discipline
  • Professional Engineering License and/or PMP Certification preferred
  • Professional Certifications i.e. LEED AP, CEM, etc. desired
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products

  • The job will generally be performed at Middough’s office but may require occasional overnight travel to the Client’s office, production facility or industrial/construction job site.
  • The employee may be assigned to work at a Client’s office, facility or site for an extended period of time. Conditions will vary at each location, but the conditions listed above will generally apply. When performing outside Middough’s office, appropriate safety training and safety equipment will be provided by Middough and/or Client, as required.
