In collaboration with and under the general direction of the Head of IT Architecture and Director of Business Architecture, leads, coaches and provides expertise the Finance and Corporate systems business domains. Focused on providing architectural guidance across multiple projects/teams.

The Business Architect will provide the leadership, facilitation, analysis and design tasks required for the development of an enterprise's business architecture. The business architect creates deliverables that help develop target-state guidance for evolving the solutions across the enterprise, in order to enable business strategy and deliver targeted business outcomes.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Works with EA peers (e.g., enterprise, business, information, solutions and security architects) to analyze enterprise business context (business strategy and trends), as well as change requirements in other enterprise architecture viewpoints (such as Technology, information and solution) to derive the future state architecture. This includes defining the requirements, principles and models that guide technology decisions for the enterprise.
  • Engages key business stakeholders to identify business and technology-enabled innovation opportunities that enable and drive business strategy.
  • Defines high-level migration plans to address the gaps between the future and current state.
  • Assists with designing the governance, assurance and standards activities associated with ensuring enterprise architecture compliance of projects and products.
  • Collaborates with enterprise stakeholders and facilitates development of digital strategy and digital innovation.
  • Constructs deliverables that demonstrate how to move the business toward realizing its strategic goals and targeted business outcomes.
  • Uses actionable and diagnostic deliverables to help the business and IT leaders make informed IT investment decisions.
  • Assesses near-term and long-term needs, to establish business IT investment priorities.
  • Seeks ways to drive adoption of new technology and reuse existing technology for enabling business capabilities, value streams and business processes.
  • Provides internal management consultancy services to business leaders, business units and lines of business, helping them with design thinking, business modeling, ecosystem modeling, innovation management, IT investment analysis, and operating model design.
  • Collaborates with infrastructure and project teams to ensure continuous delivery of business outcomes
  • Collaborates with other IT functional areas to remain apprised of project and product status and informs line of business customer management of progress. Conversely, keeps IT's technology, service managers and agile teams aware of key LOB customer issues, identifying and resolving potential problems and conflicts.
  • Collaborates with agile teams to ensure continuous delivery of business value, as well as to leverage shared technologies, tools, value streams and processes that impact speed to value and time to market.
  • Collaborates with business constituents, other EA team members, project teams and staff in various IT functional areas as needed to fulfill the responsibilities described above.
  • Publish and present current and future state architecture to technology leaders and business teams.
  • Ability to see multiple perspectives, steer discussions towards fact-based comparisons, and drive significant net value for the enterprise.
  • Develops and maintains solution architecture by leading solution definition, solution architecture reviews, and solution election efforts 
  • Partners with the broader BBU Architecture community to define and execute architecture processes.
  • Develops and maintains the Target Architecture for Finance, HR and corporate system domains - Owns the Logical Architecture for a Portfolio (describing flow and high-level physical arch)
  • Responsible for understanding the strategy across Business Process Areas and across Enterprises on the capabilities provided within their portfolio and translating that into an architecture plan (In partnership with the Functions Portfolio Lead and other Architects)
  • Responsible for the application architecture for capabilities within the scoped applications portfolio (meaning the application portfolio, key APIs, transactions, etc.) and the associated roadmap 
  • Responsible for the data landscape for the scoped global applications portfolio within the established data standards
  • Facilitation of buy vs. build decisions for the scoped global applications portfolio - Responsible for governance to the architecture plan for the scoped portfolio
  • Ensures portfolio architecture aligns with Enterprise Architecture standards/principles

Job Requirements:
  • Requires Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Computer Science or Management Information Systems. A combination of education, training and experience that results in demonstrated competency to perform the work may be substituted.
  • 7+ years business experience with diverse operational, development and business roles
  • 2+ years’ experience with business process design and improvement; knowledge of Finance and ERP solutions (i.e. BPC, SAP, JDE, Oracle, ARIS, EPM solutions, Finance related applications i.e. consolidations, planning solutions)
  • 2+ years’ experience in an architecture role
  • Experience in consumer-packaged goods (food & beverage is a plus)

  • Minimum 2 years demonstrated experience in Oracle financial modules - General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Cash Management, Fixed Assets, and Project Costing required
  • Excellent interpersonal skills in areas such as teamwork, facilitation and negotiation

  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
