Respiratory Therapist RRT (PRN)

Job Summary:
The Registered Respiratory Therapist performs respiratory care interventions in accordance with the standards established by the American Association of Respiratory Care Clinical Practice Guidelines and OMC Respiratory Care Policy. Under the supervision of the Director/Supervisor and upon a physician's order, the Registered Respiratory Therapist assesses the cardiopulmonary status of patients of all ages (neonate through geriatric) and provides various types of respiratory diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, based on individual patient needs. An integral function of this position is providing patient education to enhance wellness.

Minimum Requirements:
• 2 Year / Associate Degree Respiratory Therapy in an accredited college or university
• Analytical - Able to assess complicated patient care scenarios including subjective assessment and objective evaluation of a variety of data made available from monitors and test results, Ability to multi-task and prioritize, Able to assess the cardiopulmonary status of patients of all ages (neonate through geriatric) and provide various types of respiratory diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, based on individual patient needs & Ability to provide expert respiratory assistance in critical/emergent situations involving life support decisions and actions. 
• Respiratory Therapy Licensure by the state of Kansas Minimum Upon Hire
• Healthcare Provider CPR – (American Heart Association or American Red Cross ONLY) – required within 7 days from date of hire
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) – required Upon Hire
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification or renewal of expired NRP provider – required within 120 Days from date of hire

Key Responsibilities:
• Accurately enters appropriate charge data in accordance with Departmental procedure.
• Consistently verifies correct identity of patients.
• Communicates with referral sources, patients and co-workers to provide an efficient, customer-friendly scheduling and testing environment.
• Approaches work in a manner that makes quality improvement a part of every activity.
