The creation of the HHC System Support Office recognizes the work of a large and growing group of employees whose responsibilities are continually evolving so that we and our departments now work on behalf of the system as a whole, rather than a single member organization.

Position Summary:

Supports the present and expanding biomedical technological needs of the hospital by utilizing analytical, communication and managerial skills in order to improve and advance patient care. The primary goal of this role is to drive, optimize, and maintain capital replacement lifecycle analysis through detailed custom reports, user group meetings, data integrity strategies, and other methods as needed. The position reports to System Director, Biomedical Engineering in collaboration with System Supply Chain Management. Analyst will assist in the management and development of accurate biomedical device inventory, audit staff documentation, and develop workflow processes to maintain data integrity. Work as part of an interdisciplinary team of clinicians, technicians, engineers, and managers to manage medical device documentation across the Healthcare System.

Accountabilities:
 

  • Run, maintain, build planned capital reports to review with local and senior administration.
  • Work with clinical, technical, and administrative staff to prioritize capital equipment needs based on technology obsolescence, end of support, evolving clinical needs across HHC.
  • Use industry best practice to develop criteria and generate reports for capital replacement prioritization.
  • Work with local technicians and engineers to perform data validation and improve existing data integrity as an on-going initiative.
  • Data Entry - Standardize, Create and Educate on Standard Processes for Documentation
  • Audit data entry of users.
  • Training of staff to maintain data integrity.
  • Use third party benchmarking for analysis of capital replacement needs.
  • Partner with database administrator to optimize data integrity within the system.
  • Partner with supply chain to capture financial data on relevant capital purchases.
  • Incorporate LEAN processes to develop medical equipment data management strategies.
  • Work as part of an interdisciplinary team to manage ongoing equipment standardization processes.
  • Develops and maintains procedures for capturing relevant equipment and productivity data through departmental and hospital data base systems in order to increase departmental efficiency and to ensure compliance with state, federal and JCAHO regulations.
  • Participates in strategic and budgetary planning of medical technology and Lifecycle (pre-purchase evaluations and replacement scheduling) by performing needs assessment, specification analysis, negotiations, site planning, and training to ensure that the appropriate technologies are brought forth and implemented within the organization.
  • Reviews and investigates effectiveness of medical equipment service contracts and maintenance insurance programs by applying performance improvement techniques to minimize contracted expenses while providing expanded support for the growing network.
  • Works effectively as a team member with department and across the clinical setting to provide quality service to hospital units through communication, cooperation and collaboration.
  • Facilitate an effort to train, coach and or mentor department technicians to maintain data integrity.

Skills:

  • Familiar with or strengths in variety of database/reporting software (may include but not limited to: Excel, Access, Tabluea, Crystal Reports).
  • Must have strong communication skills with a variety of end-users (i.e. administrators, engineers, clinicians, technicians)
  • Proficiency in organizing and facilitating meetings and presentations to various levels of the organization.
  • Previous hospital and medical device experience preferred.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Self-motivated individuals whom can align short term goals with long term strategies.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors’ degree in Computer Sciences and/or Biomedical Engineering or 7 – 9 years of relevant experience.
  • Preferably has hospital environment experience.
  • Experience in financial management and/or capital replacement planning.
  • Demonstrates effective communication, organizational, interpersonal and decision making skills.
  • PM Certification desirable.
