The Buyer/Planner role is an active team member in planning scheduling the delivery of material. This highly technical position is responsible to eliminate production downtime due to material shortages, as well as managing inventory levels to meet agreed upon inventory turn targets. This position is scheduled 40 hours per week, 5:00 AM-2:00 PM (some OT).

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Manages the assigned vendor relationships with regards to the purchase of goods and or services for manufacturing purposes
  • Coordinate with Engineering to ensure that suppliers have been identified and approved for all items/commodities.
  • Recommend new processes or systems for improvement. Implement new ideas and strategies.
  • Negotiate competitive pricing with a multitude of vendors.
  • Identify potential supply issues and their impact to production and customer orders, escalating to appropriate levels of management, when necessary
  • Remain current on quality issues, supply issues, and customer orders that require a shift in production needs.
  • Analysis data using excel.
  • Actively participate in the effort to reduce on hand inventory by monitoring open commitments and rescheduling where necessary.


  • Minimum of an Associate degree or 5 years in the Procurement field preferred
  • Working experience in inventory control, purchasing, and planning functions in a manufacturing environment is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrate basic to intermediate skill proficiency using Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Additional data base management skills and experience are a plus.
  • Must have the ability to work collaboratively in an aggressive and fast-paced environment.
