Electro-Mechanical Technician - 37227

Commonwealth Technology, Inc,(CTI) a division of Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII), is an engineering services firm with diverse in house manufacturing capabilities for prototype and low volume production. The candidate for the Technician position will perform electro-mechanical assembly, testing, troubleshooting and repairs on a wide variety of projects and products in developmental stages ranging from early prototype to highly controlled production of mature products.  The ideal candidate will have a broad skill set and be capable of performing a wide range of task such as: 

  • Plans assembly of products based on completed designs, producing assembly instructions. 
  • Provides design and manufacturability input to engineers.
  • Assemble complex mechanical and electrical products using hand tools to achieve precise tolerances
  • Ability to utilize manufacturing documentation correctly
  • Demonstrated proficiency with mechanical assembly tools, equipment and techniques
  • Component fabrication with tools such as water jets, 3D printers, lasers or CNC routers
  • Wire Harness manufacturing to IPC\WHMA-620 workmanship standards
  • Setup, Operation and Maintenance of automated wire harness assembly equipment
  • Soldering per  J-STD and IPC-610 for all types of solder joints
  • Knowledge of ESD control methods and standard practices
  • Injection molding, urethane casting with silicone tooling or composite materials molding
  • Sourcing and acquisition of commercially available items that meet engineering specifications
  • Support electrical and mechanical engineers for development and testing.  Troubleshooting completed products to find faults/solve problems.
  • Logistical support including transportation coordination, pickup and delivery service
  • Residential construction level carpentry; facilities maintenance or repair
  • Creativity and latitude in performing duties is required.  Compliance with safety and quality policies and procedures is required.

Job Requirements:

  • US Citizenship
  • 5+ years of experience
  • Secret Clearance
  • Familiarly with inspection tools and equipment
  • Drive light trucks and vans for local courier tasks
  • Able to lift and carry at least 30 lbs. regularly

Desirable traits:

  • IPC certifications
  • CDL
  • Ability to creatively paint products to match conditions which exist in nature
