The Commercial Business Analyst Team Lead is responsible for partnering with front-line leaders to ensure the processes, performance, and reporting for Commercial Banking support at bank subsidiaries of Heartland Financial USA, Inc. (the "Company"), meets the standards required to meet the goals of the banks and business line. In addition, the Commercial Business Analyst Team Lead manages the Commercial Banking analysis and effectiveness reporting function outside the sales arena.

PRIMARY & ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.    Manages the Company's Commercial Banking loan support function with the support of Commercial Banking loan support supervisors at the bank level.
a.    Identifies opportunities and develops processes to improve efficiency of the Commercial loan support function.
b.    Ensures consistent accountability standards for the support function.
c.    Ensures clear definition and communication of responsibilities and gearing ratios for the support function.
2.    Conducts analysis of commercial banking processes across the Company; identifies ways to improve and standardize processes; and manages other Commercial Banking Analyst(s) who support this responsibility.
3.    Oversees business management reporting for Commercial Banking outside the sales arena.
a.    High level summaries of the performance of all business lines under Commercial Banking - Treasury Management, Retirement Plan Services, Commercial Card, Commercial Lending.
b.    Individual Commercial Banker portfolio analysis
c.    Bank-level portfolio analysis.
4.    Demonstrates the ability to successfully learn and support the credit administration support function for the specialty vertical function within Commercial Banking through targeted activity as assigned.
5.    Supports the Heartland Commercial Banking team on execution of day-to-day initiatives for identified lines of business
6.    Supports the reporting/analytics, marketing and sales enablement, project management, and operational administrative services 
7.    Assists with providing and maintaining tools to assist leaders in translating the Commercial Banking vision into business objectives, strategies and financial expectations
8.    Assists with M&A due diligence and any subsequent acquisition integration as it relates to Commercial Banking.
9.    Helps identify and maintain a prioritized listing of high impact, cross-functional projects which focus on process, sales enablement and data flow improvements. Serves as project lead on assigned projects.
10.    Assists with the implementation of policies and procedures to achieve Commercial Banking tactical and strategic business goals. 
11.    Identifies business challenges and opportunities for improvement.
12.    Works closely with colleagues across Heartland including:  Technology, Marketing, Operations, Finance, Product and others to drive improvement in quality, volume, and profitability.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.    Supervises and coaches Commercial Banking Analysts
2.    Works with Heartland's recruitment team to hire the most qualified and talented individuals to fill open positions for the function.
3.    Provides information and on-going feedback to department staff regarding expectations and performance.  Addresses performance issues in a timely manner. 
4.    Prepares and conducts annual performance reviews and professional development discussions.

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

1.    3-5 years' experience assessing data, leading to key considerations and proposing recommendations
2.    Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or related field.
3.    3-5 years of commercial banking, treasury management and/or commercial card experience preferred
4.    Prior management experience preferred
5.    Ability to leverage the capabilities of a high-performing team, as well as business partners across the enterprise.
6.    Excellent sales and thorough knowledge of operational processes 
7.    Good negotiating skills to work with customers, banks and service providers to identify/create service options that work and add value to the customer 
8.    Strong expertise in secondary credit risk management and audit controls 
9.    Current understanding of regulatory compliance issues relating to banking
10.    General understanding of commercial credit policy. Strong working knowledge within the banking industry, treasury operations, accounting and corresponding banking
11.    Strong executive communication skills both oral and written, coupled with strategic influencing skills and the ability to drive agreement through intellect, interpersonal and negotiation skills
12.    Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and database software.
