Design/Manufacturing Engineer Basic Functions (or Position Summary):

Systemair Manufacturing Inc. is a vertically integrated company with dedicated in house teams responsible for performing market analysis, research & product development, product testing, sheet metal fabrication and product assembly for ventilation products. Design and Manufacturing Engineers play an integral role within our organization with primary responsibilities revolving around new product development and production optimization.

This role is perfect for an individual with a passion and ability for visualizing, designing, and creating. Working Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication and forming is an important attribute for Design and Manufacturing Engineers as this strength promotes creativity and is complementary to product design tasks.

Design/Manufacturing Engineer Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Project Design Lead-

1. Using 3D modeling software to design components meeting Design For Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) requirements.

2. Participate Cross functionally with R&D team to conceptually design a product that meets project deliverables (product performance, safety, quality, Serviceability, customer expectations, etc..)

3. Leads Cross functional team meetings to identify fabrication and manufacturing needs (tools, machinery, automation equipment, etc..)

4. Works with Project Manager on establishing timelines related to product design activities.

5. Creates component drawings, specifications (proper tolerances), and assembly work instructions.

6. Responsible for planning and coordinating with Engineering team to execute product launch tasks (Bill of Materials, labeling, packaging, website content, etc.)

7. Leads team in Engineering Pilot Run activities

8. Working knowledge of fabrication (CNC) file types (.DXF, .GEO, etc…)

Manufacturing Engineer-

1. Process and Workflow Design

2. Designing Jigs and Fixtures for assembly

3. Participates in training production line on implemented optimizations.

4. Continuous Improvement Processes; CIP Identifying waste in processes and proposing new ideas following industry philosophies; Lean, 5S, Six Sigma, Kaizen, TPS (Toyota production System), etc.

5. Assist in resolving technical manufacturing and product design issues

Additional Position Information/Details:

Ø Position requires approximately 60% of time working in a Design Engineer capacity and 40% of the time in the Manufacturing

Engineer capacity.

Ø No Travel Required

Ø Position Strengths: Mechanically minded, Electrical or Electronics background beneficial

. Requirements:

Design/Manufacturing Engineer Education and Experience:


Ø Minimum BS Mechanical Engineering


Ø 3+ years professional experience

Ø Experience with Parametric solid modeling (Experience in PTC Creo preferred, SolidWorks, Inventor, Fusion, etc… is sufficient)

Ø Working knowledge of CNC equipment and file compatibilities (.DXF, G-code, etc…)

Ø Working knowledge of additive manufacturing (3D printing, hobbies is sufficient)

Ø Some knowledge of technical product drawing and typical GD&T tolerance requirements

Ø Stress and finite element analysis skills are preferred

Ø Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication methods preferred (not required)

Ø Knowledge of HVAC systems is not required but is beneficial
