Central Standard is a classic American bar & grill with an emphasis on American culinary classics and fresh seafood. Located in South Congress Hotel and nominated as one of Austin Monthly’s 2016 “Best New Restaurants”.  Our restaurant features an open kitchen, a covered wraparound patio overlooking South Congress Avenue and a wine cellar featuring more than 100 labels.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS/DESCRIPTION

A Line Cook will exceed the expectations of all guests in a multitude of tasks that include, but are not limited to, food preparation duties, cooking and seasoning all menu items, ordering kitchen supplies and maintaining Health Department Standards within your work area.  

The person having this position must possess good communication skills, and have the ability to resolve conflict and possess a thorough understanding of company policies.  All employees, even those who are not exposed to guests on a day-to-day basis, are expected to greet all guests in close proximity and make each feel important by providing a genuine welcome.  Furthermore, a Cook and Food Preparation Worker must develop and maintain the company’s culture, values and reputation in the public eye, and with all staff, guests, vendors and partners.

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Must have experience maintaining station par levels, food rotation, proper labeling, and waste management.
  • Must have experience adhering to recipe and food presentation specifications, as well as portion control.
  • Must comply with food safety and sanitation regulations, as well as have their Food Handler's certificate.
  • Must have the ability to work a variety of hours, days and shifts, including weekends and late nights.
  • Bilingual (English & Spanish) preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  1. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  2. The person in this position may have to lift up to fifty (50) pounds on a daily basis; anything over fifty (50) pounds is considered a minimum two (2) person lift. 
  3. The person having this position may have to sit for one (1) hour, stand and/or walk, push, kneel, bend, balance, squat, reach and stretch for eight (8) hours per day.
