The Accounting Clerk compiles prepares and verifies data for use in maintaining accounting records by performing the following duties.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Compiles and sorts documents, such as invoices and checks, substantiating business transactions.
  2. Balances account spreadsheets; matches and defines discrepancies between payments and amounts billed in the system.
  3. Verifies and posts details of business transactions, such as funds received and disbursed; totals accounts to ledgers or computer spreadsheets and databases.
  4. Prepares invoices, checks, timecards, and other records and reviews for accuracy.
  5. Answers, screens, and directs incoming telephone calls.
  6. Sorts and distributes internal and external mail.
  7. Performs other duties as assigned by the manager.
