What are we looking for in an Addiction Specialist?

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Comprehensive Healthcare team in a management role that combines program development, supervisory, and clinical duties. The Addiction Specialist will oversee our medication-assisted treatment programs (buprenorphine and methadone) across our entire organization. While we have long-running methadone program in Yakima, we have been working to expand MAT services to all of our outpatient facilities across south-central Washington by adding a Suboxone program and developing a mobile MAT unit. These new services will help to improve client care by increasing accessibility and building on our existing substance use disorder treatment programs. The Addiction Specialist will manage all medication-assisted treatment and work to fully integrate this service with our existing spectrum of care. In addition, the Addiction Specialist will develop additional services to enhance our offerings to meet clients’ needs, improve clients’ access to care, and develop partnerships with other community providers. We anticipate that the Addiction Specialist will provide expertise, supervision, and direction regarding all aspects of medication-assisted treatment to the mid-level providers and RNs staffing these programs. When needed, the Addiction Specialist will also provide direct treatment services and serve as the backup provider to all sites offering MAT services. Substantial interest in or previous experience providing addiction treatment is required for this position, but we are willing to consider physicians from a variety of medical specialties.

Addiction Specialist duties may include:

managing all medication-assisted treatment across the organization and fully integrating these services with our existing SUD & mental health services
developing and expanding MAT services to fill unmet needs in the community while making Comprehensive the provider of choice in our service area
monitoring mid-level providers & RNs on our MAT programs and providing expertise & supervision to assist with subject-matter knowledge
overseeing non-medical aspects of our MAT programs to ensure all treatment is effective, consistent across sites, and follows best practices
providing direct treatment when needed and serving as the backup provider for all MAT programs
promoting our MAT services out in the community and educating clients, staff, and others about the safety and efficacy of our treatment
collaborating with the Chief Medical Officer and the operations team for strategic planning and other agency initiatives with regard to MAT services

Qualifications:

completion of MD or DO degree with residency program in addiction medicine, psychiatry, family medicine, or other relevant specialty
previous experience or high interest in addiction treatment
eligible for Physician & Surgeon License or Osteopathic Physician & Surgeon license in Washington State
federal DEA certification
