Cox Communications is searching for a Manager, Cox Business Access Engineering. The CB Access Engineering team is a key part of the Fulfillment organization and workstream. The team interprets complex customer and service orders entered by Cox Business and creates an engineering design and bill of materials supporting all CB products and services, that enable downstream partners to successfully install and support service quality for our commercial customers. This role provides leadership and strategic direction for design, development, delivery of current and future technologies addressing business needs related to the access telecommunications network. This role establishes and supports performance standards and provides leadership and development for an engineering team.

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions

- Provides leadership and direction for an engineering team accountable for the solutioning and design of complex fiber-based services for commercial customers on the access network.
- Creates &/or manages systems and processes used to deliver a quality customer experience through effective development, operational support, tools, consistent methodology, continuous improvement, and analytics/metrics.
- Manages all activities and technical issues associated with providing solutions designing to support customer growth by identifying, prioritizing, and confirming resolution of reported issues.
- Understand business, operations & technology. Understands internal customer business processes, key drivers, and measures of success for the business, and the short/long-term direction of the business and technology.
- Understands and participates in the development of large customer opportunities &/or RFP responses for complex customer solutions. Ability to create/document business requirements and justification of designs. Analysis of potential solutions, and preparation of appropriate project plans and purchase requisitions.
- Collaborates/partners with, facilitates &/or leads discussions across functional groups, regional & corporate locations, and key stakeholders to identify and validate technology solution strategy, supporting initiatives, key deliverables and roll out schedules ensuring business needs are supported in all phases throughout the process.



- 7+ years experienced required in related field (e.g. technology, engineering, operations); 5+ years of experience required if candidate possesses a related advanced degree.
- Strong knowledge of telecommunications, Ethernet, Sonet, optical networks, DWDM, network design, test & turn up of services, and analytics.
- Excellent list soft skills such as interpersonal, leadership, presentation, and collaborative skills to work effectively with teams throughout the organization.
- Prior experience creating processes, procedures, scopes of work (SOW), reviewing MOPs.


- BS/BA degree or PE in related discipline strongly desired (mechanical or electrical engineering)
- 2+ years of experience in a management role preferred
- Experience in telecommunications industry desired
- Prior experience working for a service provider
